Say your condition is fairly mild, would it be usual for your stools to vary between normal for a day or 2, then excel to more frequent and loose for a day or 2, and back again etc?
Whats a likely cause of a pattern like this? I was thinking maybe dietary?

Watching with interest as I've been having the same recently.

For those who’ve checked before on that stool scale, say 1 x 4, building up to a day or 2 of 3 x 6/7s, then back etc

I have gluten intolerance and my stools are all over the place if I don’t religiously follow a gf diet.

Is this a sudden change for you or long term? Do you have any other symptoms?

If it’s new I would be inclined to get a drs appointment and just have a stool sample checked just in case it’s polyps or something else causing the fluctuations.

It's such a range. I'm celiac and have no gastric symptoms at all. Only dermititis herpetiformis, which is a completely different manifestation. If my stools changed I'd suspect something other than celiac disease. Dnephew also celiac has good skin, crazy stools.

Maybe try keeping food diary? I am g/intolerant and occasionally have loose stools if I have too much cream on my deserts. I think it's dairy related although I don't have milk and usually only have goats cheese so not sure if cows dairy or just fat in the cream.

I have actual coeliac disease (the serious form of gluten reaction) and had hardly any bowel problems for years. Eventually they started to vary between loose and constipation but I had kther symptoms my whole life that were ignored. Apparently most orthopedic (e.g. arthritis), some neurological (e.g. pins and needles, numbness, nerve pain) and quite a few miscarriages in women are a really down to coeliac disease as most people with the condition are never diagnosed. It also causes rapid tooth decay and osteoporosis.

It’s my older teen, getting a consistent accurate food diary without being a total nag is difficult.

I’m guessing gp would direct us to keep a detailed good diary in first instance?

I was diagnosed with coeliac disease ten years ago and even at my most ill I only had diarrhoea once a week
