Worried my dentist won't believe me

I cracked a molar tooth in November and it took 3 dental appointments before my dentist agreed that it was cracked and had to come out. Last weds I go and she tried to pull the tooth for an hour, sectioning it and even asking her superior to help, but it's left me with 4 roots that I need to see a surgeon for. Thats meant to happen sunday on a fit me in at the end kind of thing.

Now comes the fun bit.. recovering from 2 hours of yanking and cutting will take a while but 3 days ago the pain started getting more intense, and worse until today I have an abcess on the premolar next to it... I am on antibiotics.

I've looked at the tooth and it's cracked too. How do I make her see that and offer to help me? Im so fed up of being in dental pain.

I'd telephone in the morning and ask for a review. If you're in pain following the failed extraction, it would be reasonable for them to see you as soon as possible, typically same day. It's most likely that the abscess is related to the broken molar and not the premolar. If there is a problem with the premolar, your dentist shoud be able to assess this and provide appropriate intervention, without the need for you to convince them.

Firstly, I am so sorry you are in this pain - dental pain is the worst, absolutely horrendous, and I will go as far as to say that it’s worse than childbirth insofar as it’s constant and debilitating.

Secondly - and I know this isn’t an option for everyone - but is this an NHS dentist? If so I would try and get seen ASAP by a private dentist, the emergency appointment will cost more but they can do the same referrals to NHS dental surgeons if necessary. It’s a sad state of affairs but the only way I’ve ever found to get my teeth sorted is through private dental treatment.

A referral back into an NHS primary care oral surgery will be no quicker whether it comes from a private or NHS practice.

Thanks everyone.
I have an appointment with her tomorrow afternoon and am going to have to try to make her understand how much pain this is giving me.
I have multiple other health conditions so I get by in regular pain killers including tramadol and morphine but I can’t shift the intense electric shock pains I’m feeling as well as the dull throbbing ache.

It is an nhs dentist. The surgeon I am seeing Sunday is private but at the same practice. He only comes in now and then to deal with implant patients and won’t be expecting my 4 roots needing to be dug out come the end of his shift at 7pm.

I would love for him to be able to pull the pre molar at the same time as the roots.
