Is this normal for period?

I’m in day 3 and the bleeding has pretty much stopped. However last night had explosive diarrhoea- and once today morning ( sorry TMI) is this normal for period? I haven’t eaten much as my appetite is all over the place so unlikely to be food poisoning. I’m 42 and my period for the last two years has been a bit if an event as in all sorts of acute set of symptoms so wondering if this is another one to add to the list?

I often have bowel troubles around the time of my period, the doctor told me the hormone released that triggers the uterus cramping also impacts your pooping parts! So for me it's normal, but if it's a new thing for you and there's other things you're concerned about it might be worth speaking to someone though.

Thanks @thunderstruckk
I’ve had the slight constipation during ovulation and the increased visits to the toilet during periods before..but never diarrhoea

well the NHS doesn’t function so wondering if I should book a call through the GP app and pay for it..

@JamDoorNut it's a minefield with what's normal and what isn't.

And tbh half of the GPS aren't particularly well versed in women's issues I find. If it resolves itself today maybe see if it re occurs next cycle?

@thunderstruckk thanks- yes agree re: womens issues and most doctors. I’m noting down the issues that crop up every month so will add this to the list.
