Travel insurance for pre existing conditions when you already have it through bank account

Wondering if anyone else has experience and what's the best option. Spoke to our travel insurance which is through our bank to just add the family members pre-existing condition on. The quote was ridiculous. I have since looked online what it would be through another company and the quotes are literally 80% less!
My issue is this would mean we would have two insurance policies which would make it complicated in the event of needing to claim.
I would cancel my insurance through the bank but it also covers our Moblie/breakdown etc so is worth it that way.
Is there a way round this/does anyone have a similar issue/experience of working in insurance and know what the best option is?

I think it’s only a problem if you try to claim off both insurances for the same incident.

My experience (wirh a pre-existing condition) is it v much depends what it is. Asthma is one through to a serious heart condition or arthritis requiring a wheelchair so what are we talking here? It also depends if you are receiving ongoing treatment or not.

Yes, no issue unless you claim on both for the same thing. Bank travel insurance isn't really that good if you have pre existing or if you need cover for anything slightly adventurous.

I had this and bought another policy to cover a pre existing condition.

If anything happens relating to the condition, I’ll need to claim on the new policy. If anything happens for something else like baggage going missing, I will check the policy details on what is most comprehensive with the least excess etc to decide what policy to claim on.

I will try not to claim though as I don’t want to be uninsurable in future or with a huge premium as a result of any claim.

You can get a medical only policy from another company, and speak to the bank and say you have a separate policy for medical and to get it authorised
