Is there a place on MN to discuss cars?

I've had a look and can't find any.

I'm thinking of changing mine and would love to exchange experiences with WOMEN because there is a definite difference in design features for men and smaller women (like me.)

I'm thinking about seats, vision, etc.

Basically, I'm considering a small SUV as I'm having to do very long journeys on my own (to see elderly family) and I've a short list of possibles.

But most reviews are written by men.

My wife chose a V60 and we're both happy with it. She's 5 feet 4 and a half, if that's any help!

Hyundai Kona hybrid. Love it! Small boot though so no good if you've got kids and pushchairs however we (2 adults) put the back seats down and a got a weeks camping equipment in it and luggage. I would definitely get another in the future.

I forgot to mention that I'm 5.2 in height

I'm 4'11 and despite thinking I'd absolutely hate it when we first tried it, I love our Land Rover Discovery Sport - it is probably bigger than you want though.

It's been a fab car to own, is great driving long distances, fits all the crap inside (believe me it has been tested many many times)
We have the 7 seat version so also fits in tons of kids if you need to take friends/relatives. Fits both tiny me and long legged DH in comfortably.
Adults (& 5'8 14yo DS's) can sit in the back very comfortably.
It's surprisingly easy to drive and park and also can do off road and tow when needed.
We've had it nearly 7yrs now and it's one my favourite cars I've ever had.

I've hated all the BMWs we've ever tried even though on paper they tick all the boxes. They feel like they are made for a man's proportions.

I have an xc40.
Vision is great and the 360 camera is excellent but I do find it a little more tricky to manoeuvre in tighter spots - that may be just me.
It's an absolute pleasure to drive. Feels very safe to the point of pretty boring at times! I do both long and short journeys in it and happily give people lifts all over the place. Spacious boot with little hooks to keep your shopping falling over.
It's a plug in hybrid which is ideal.
I had use of a Tiguan for a bit and I do think that felt a little more nippy if you can call an SUV that, but as someone else says you can't get safer than a Volvo!

Please consider something other than an SUV. Think of the environment for starters, but more consider what would happen were a child or dog run out into the road and the injuries or worse, compared with a traditional car.

I can't help you with car that size.
But I wish mumsnet would bring the car topoc back.

Skoda has the Kodiaq, which is the largest, Karoq is a bit smaller and Kamiq the smallest. Their other SUV is Enyaq, which is electric.

I’ve had the Karoq, which I loved. Plenty of space, high up, comfortable for my back. The rear seats are removable if you want to carry a load. I liked the Kamiq, but not quite as much. Now we only have one car and I miss my Karoq.

Are you thinking of an SUV as some kind of monster truck with huge bumpers? There are many other designs.

Many new cars are very environmentally friendly. The newest ones have very low emissions.

I hear you re. accidents, but again, many new cars have systems that brake automatically when anyone steps out in front.

DH's BMW brakes automatically and the emissions are less than older gas-guzzling smaller cars (his is not an SUV.)

I want 4-wheel drive as elderly family live in Scotland , I live rurally too, and I need to get there and back in one piece.

The volvo is no more dangerous than a car as they have actively tried to solve that problem.
