Too old for a climbing frame?!

We are moving to a house with a slightly bigger garden. I would like to buy a climbing frame like the one pictured (possibly without the “bridge”/net bit) for my kids but I wonder if they are getting a bit old and it won’t get much use/will be a waste of money. They are 9, and 7 (8 in the spring by the time the weather is good enough to play out more).

Our youngest is quite active, loves monkey bars and is already getting a gymnastics bar for the garden (just an H shaped bar they can dangle off).

Would welcome any advice/experience, in particular: if you’ve had a climbing frame when did your kids lose interest?

Thanks!

I definitely don’t think they are too old. But the one you show, if you don’t get the bridge and net part, isn’t really a climbing frame is it? It’s just climb two steps and sit.

I would get something else with more climbing, a swing etc

Only you know your children. If you think they're still into climbing etc then get one..but I wouldn't get what you've pictured, get something more substantial with more climbing areas if you can.

I think just that one part is too dull. What are they going to do once they have climbed the three steps? The bridge and net parts are the good bits!

Agree with others. They’re not necessarily too old but I can’t see much joy in the one pictured. Get one with monkey bars!

The monkey bars will depend on the height. My 11yo loves monkey bars, bud sadly many are too low now

How far away will you have a local park with climbing facilities?
They are getting to the age they could go there together without you possibly?

Thanks, you have persuaded me: if I get one definitely get the monkey bars/net too!

We’ll be 5 mins from one local park and 10 from another which kids know very well as our move is very local. I used to roam around as a 7 year old but that doesn’t seem to be the done thing any more, so I suspect it’s still a good couple of years before I can let them both go there on their own without someone calling social services on me 🤪
