I want my knitting to look 'KKPPKKPP' all along. I want the finished knitting to look like little blocks of 4 stitches. What I can't remember is when I do the 2nd row, do I knit a K or purl it to make the pattern.?

If you’re looking to make a ribbed pattern it would start off PP if you ended PP. You purl into the purls and knit the knits. Hope this helps.
if you want a block do this for say eight rows then switch to
the opposite stitch for eight rows.

This will give you a 2 by 2 rib pattern.

Are you knitting flat, or in the round?

If knitting flat, if you finish a row on a K stitches, you need to start the next row on a P stitch.

Oh yes sorry PP is correct I’m wrong knit the purls and purl into the knits!

You need to cast on an even number of stitches then do 4 rows of kkppkkppkkppkk (make sure you start and end with kk, followed by 4 rows of ppkkppkkppkkpp (making sure to finish the row with pp then alternate that pattern until you have the length you need.

You might prefer the size of the boxes if you do 6 rows instead of 4 or 8 rows. Give it a try and see what you think.

Google double moss stitch, for pattern chart diagram, I think this is what you want

Ignore me. Made the same mistake as previous POster. You want to make sure you end the first set of rows in a PP and the second set on a Kk

Aww thanks, I didn't want to spend ages experimenting as I'm using mohair & glitter lurex... 🙄Xmas Grin

If you want to practice do a test piece with any old left over yarn.

That's a good idea @CaptainMyCaptain My brain clearly isn't online tonight... 😂

I thought mohair & lurex would be extra tricky to knit, turns out it's super easy! Much easier than find mohair alone. Lurex is lovely to knit with, it slides easily.
