A list of average possessions needed by the average person?

I’d love to see something like this but can’t find anything through Google. I can find stuff from minimalist websites but that’s not really what I’m after.

I want a list eg the average person owns three pairs of trousers, five saucepans, seventy books, stuff like that. Nothing specific like all your horsey gear or scuba diving equipment, just average stuff the average person owns.

Any ideas where I can find this?

I don't really.know what median and such is.
But..

If you have 200 people. one of them has only one eye. the total number of eyes is 399
The average number of eyes per person is:
number of eyes 399
divided by
number of people 200

399 / 200 = 1.995 which is fewer than 2.

I think.

That is the mean

Mode is the most commonly occurring value
So that would be 2

All 3 values are often very close but it's worth noting the difference eg when salary is being discussed

Typically the mean salary is much higher than the median because sone people have very high salary which pulls the mean up but the median - the salary earned by the person who earns more than exactly half the population is lower

Often when two sides or a strike are talking the bosses will quote the mean and the unions will quote the median salary

Surely the important thing is having the items that you need and use most of the time? Like a student in a shared house? So maybe a weeks worth of clothes for summer, spring/autumn and winter. Basic cooking equipment- couple of knives and pans, chopping board, tin opener, couple of sets of cutlery/bowls/plates/mugs/glasses. Maybe a toaster and kettle. Entertainment- phone, tablet, kindle, books, tv, games console- whatever you do. Hobby equipment- could be a bike, weights, crochet stuff, sports kit etc. Bedding and towels- one or two sets depending on how often you can wash them. Hygiene- tooth brush and paste, soap of some sort, hair brush, nail scissors, razor?

Most people have too much stuff.
I try but fail to never buy myself anything.
Still have way too much stuff.

OP you need to pick a few of the items you are interested in and do a quick survey on MN. I have a lot more pairs of trousers than I do saucepans! Assuming you are including leggings and joggers.
