White chocolate

Why is it perceived as for babies?? My DS just turned 6 months and we've just received his 4th selection box! They are all white chocolate so I guess the theory is it looks like milk so is what babies should eat.

Rant, sorry! I shouldn't even complain, I love white chocolate Grin

It makes less mess I suppose.

No idea - I've never really heard of white chocolate being a suitable gift for a baby? That seems very odd.

Missing the point entirely - is white chocolate actually chocolate? Does it contain any cocoa solids or is it really just candy? I don't like it as its far too cloying.

Thats very true!
Although my DD has always preferred milk chocolate over white chocolate, but her first few Christmases she did recieve all white chocolate. Isnt that strange 😂

You’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s cleverly marketed and people assume it’s mainly milk and a little chocolate. Healthy …

in reality white chocolate is a lot worse for you thag dark or milk. No cocoa solids in it.

White chocolate is made with cocoa butter and sugar - it doesn't contain any othe parts of the cocoa bean (which gives milk/dark chocolate colour and flavour).

Maybe there’s a perception that it’s healthier for babies and toddlers because it contains no stimulants. Caffeine and theobromine are contained in cocoa solids - white chocolate contains no cocoa solids (so isn’t technically chocolate).

Rubyupbeat · 01/01/2023 13:10

Mine had it as it looks less mess

Cococomelon · 01/01/2023 13:16

I think it is marketed for children. Milky bad kid being mostly milk or something like that - marketed that way.

I got my 18 month old a white chocolate advent calendar but he will eat 80% dark too 🤗

SirenSays · 01/01/2023 13:28

This really annoyed me with my SIL. Her child would be hungry and she'd whip out a packet of white buttons like it was the perfect baby food, either that or a bag of skips.

GoodVibesHere · 01/01/2023 13:30

You're right, thinking back my two were given white chocolate as toddlers! I too bought white chocolate for nieces and nephews when they were little, I don't know why Blush

TreacsPotNoodle · 01/01/2023 13:35

I prefer it for my DS because it's less mess/ less likely to stain.
Nothing to do with milk content!
