Is anyone making resolutions?

I usually do a load of resolutions for the year based on what year it is so this time it’ll be ‘23 for ‘23

I’m struggling to be inspired for some baby led ones though, he’s currently 9mo and I just know he’s going to change so much in the next year.

Does anyone else make resolutions and if so what are you making💕 x

Go on more family walks to new places. It’s free and healthy and we all love it.

I am also going to try to lose weight. I am going to get a pay rise come hell or new employment. I want to get better at yoga.

The best resolution I ever made (and stuck to) is labelling leftovers when putting them in the freezer 😁

I've just written my sermon for tomorrow on this Smile

It's about not making punishing resolutions that make people depressed in one of the darkest months of the year

And suggestions for enjoyable ones that nurture your soul Grin

Thats really worth baring in mind @LaurieFairyCake when making resolutions. I've never really thought of it like that

Fluffyowl00 · 31/12/2022 22:43

Not really resolutions but when my daughter was 6 months I tried a little daily routine for me:
Monday clean
Tuesday exercise
Wednesday TV
Thursday call friends/ read
Friday weekend party (ha!)
Saturday garden
Sunday pamper

obviously a lot of the time I couldn’t do it but it was quite nice to think …ooh it’s Sunday where is my razor and when WAS the last time I cut and painted my toenails?

If anyone is planning on losing weight in 2023, wait until at least mid March when the weather's starting to improve, getting warmer with longer daylight hours. DH and I did 5/2 diet starting mid March LY for 2 months. I lost 3.5kg and got down to my target weight. DH lost 7kg which was great as he is on medication which affects your metabolism and makes you put on weight unless you're really careful what you eat.
We felt it was much easier in March than in dark, cold and miserable January/February.

I'm making just one this year but it will cover everything - pace myself.

I tend to be all or nothing eg trying to lose weight by hardly eating and over exercising, then giving up cos it's "too hard" so this year I am aiming for moderation, balance.

Shodan · 31/12/2022 22:50

I am.

This past year was a bit shit, so to try and improve things I've decided to:

Try yoga (already signed up for a course)

Try a bootcamp (already signed up for it)

Lose weight (hence the above)

Make new friends (also hence the above)

Try a new choir, if the current one continues to be unfriendly

Get my bloody extension built (project manage it myself)

Get a job (been out of the workforce for many many years so it's v nervewracking)

Basically- grab life by the balls, as it were. And stop being a doormat.

NYresolutions23 · 31/12/2022 22:51

Yes

  1. To not hate myself and put myself down as I do this daily.
2 lose weight, which will help with the above ( about 2 stones over weight) but happy to lose 1. 3 to take better care of myself, not put myself on the back burner, putting dh and kids before me ( he gets annoyed when I do this and always telling me to do things for myself take time out for me) 4 to not waste money on unnecessary treats for the dcs. Im forever buying them new things weekly that they don't need or want. The money could be better used elsewhere

Be healthier

Do more as a family

Stop worrying about things that haven't even happened - I've never suffered with anxiety and I've been in the camp of pull yourself together as I couldn't understand it. Haha jokes on me. It's vile.

Address my health anxiety somehow.

Be happy

Be kinder to myself.

I get this I am the same. It's hard.

Graphista · 02/01/2023 00:05

@limitededitionbarbie very hard! Been like it all my life and the problem is that in certain areas it's kinda served me well (eg cramming for exams) but it's not a healthy or happy way to be and I want to address that side.

caringcarer · 02/01/2023 00:07

I'm determined to lose weight and get fitter but starting Feb 1st. Too many Xmas bits left to diet in January. I've realised that is where I have been going wrong in the past.

mackthepony · 02/01/2023 00:07

Being more selfish

Putting myself first

Getting my PMP

marywana · 02/01/2023 00:30

To be the best version of myself both mentally and physically which includes not allowing people to take me for granted anymore. It means letting people go so I can focus on the people and things that are important rather than bending for others that just take all the time.

Acquiring good habits first and then developing a daily routine that's flexible (e.g. has to be done 3 x week at least) and having one day a week to do anything I want.

Ideally I would like this to be more of a lifestyle change rather than a resolution as I usually strike out on them Hmm
