I need help! Who stole my Bakewell Tarts (Festive Edition)?

Wendyer · 31/12/2022 21:56

I had to go out this afternoon, leaving 5 Festive Edition (aka normal Bakewells with sprinkles on top) Bakewell Tarts behind. And when I got home they had all gone! All. Of. Them. 😮. There are 2 main suspects, both of who deny all knowledge.

Ds2 is a health fanatic. He is a pt, does stupid amounts of exercise, eats plates of broccoli and spinach as a treat etc. On the face of it, not the culprit. However - he does have a sweet tooth. 99.9 % of the time he resists this, but once he indulges, he can't stop, and has been known to splurge.

Ds3 has probably eaten green veg five times in his life, cried once when his pancakes were served with fruit, and hasn't done any exercise since he fell in a ditch in 2020 and his girlfriend dumped him as a result. On the face of it - the obvious culprit. However - he has eaten his body weight in crappy food this Christmas and says he is all sugared out. He also is compulsively honest and just all round nice.

Which one of them did it?!

The trail has gone decidedly quiet!!

Are we to assume that dc1 is scoffing the evidence whilst hiding behind the sofa at his NYE party??

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 31/12/2022 22:40

Both ds took them. They’re covering for each other.

Wendyer · 31/12/2022 22:45

Dc1 hasn't replied. Obviously too busy partying to worry about his poor deprived parent :(.

Both ds took them. They’re covering for each other.

This could be a possibility if only ds3 didn't blush when telling fibs, and ds2 didn't have a fit of giggles when fibbing. They might be adults now but you never forget the signs ...

They’re definitely not tucked away in one of the kitchen cupboards?

Geppili · 31/12/2022 22:55

You need to separate them all and then interrogate separately. My money is on them both doing it.

Chickenwing2 · 31/12/2022 22:55

My favourite mystery of the year! The culprit must be found. You need to find the packet! Look in bedroom bins Smile offer your dcs a reward of £10 for the truth

Eckelbloodyfecken · 31/12/2022 22:56

FWIW, my money is on DS2

Definitely not.

OP posts:

Yes I think interrogating separately is the way to go. I think I'll try the "you may as well come clean, your brother has told me it was you" technique.

Still no reply from ds1. I know you're all anxious to know the truth - don't worry, I will keep you abreast of all developments :)

Definitely protesting too much 🤣🤣🤣

NewNameForXmas · 31/12/2022 23:54

I think one dachshund stood on his back legs, the other one stood on his shoulders and they ate the packaging as well to conceal their crime ...

I don't think they'd be tall enough even stacked on top of each other. I do like this idea though - worth thinking it through ...

The over use of exclamation marks is a dead give away. He is guilty.

<gavel>

AntsDeck · 01/01/2023 00:27

It was I, Scooby Doo and if it hadn't been for your meddling, I would have got away with it ......

Response from ds1 :)

Definitely on the defensive. Here's your culprit OP.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 01/01/2023 01:05

It's DS1 or DS2 and the culprit is confident that DS3 will be most likely to be blamed.

Wendyer · 01/01/2023 01:12

I am going to drive to ds1's flat, get a ladder (his flat is on the second floor) and spend the rest of the night watching him carefully.

My OH says to check the area for a seesaw. He suspects that's how the dogs did it....

ODFOx · 01/01/2023 01:32

Dachshunds are very clever. Did they design some sort of trebuchet to launch themselves up to the worktop?
If the box isn't in the recycling then has someone put them in their own room for later consumption?

Geppili · 01/01/2023 01:53

Op have you analysed the household bin contents???

TerrifiedandWorried · 01/01/2023 01:57

It was probably me. I've eaten everything else.

Geppili · 01/01/2023 01:59

Look for expressions and body language of guilt.

Wendyer · 01/01/2023 02:13

@motherofawhirlwind no seesaw here - does your dh think a skateboard could have been used?

Which one did it? @Geppili the sausages want me to ask you to ask your sausage how he got up there?
