Did any of you go to Lightopia, Dunham Massey, Trentham gardens or Magical Forest this year (2022)?

Afternoon,

Trying to gauge if I can be arsed driving kiddies to Blackpool lumies, staying put or paying out £££ to do a last-minute light trail today (there are still some slots between 4 and 8pm).
It has been a shitshow of a year and I wanted to do something nice but reviews on Trip Advisor have all been quite negative/not worth the money?not as good as previous years.

Did any of you do the above and what were they like?

Thanks in advance Flowers

We went to the Harry Potter lights at Arley Hall. It was really nice, more interactive than say Dunham. If you’ve seen the films it will have more impact. Happy to recommend it.

Ah, just looked it up and slot just sold out but couldn't have justified £38 x 4, that's the most expensive of all them. I do appreciate your reply though and am glad you had a nice time. Tis probably a case of you get what you pay for. Now I sound like Scrooge but, you know. Thanks again Wine

Did DM was lovely

keepthesecrets · 31/12/2022 13:02

Lightopia at Alton Towers is lovely

featheryfancy · 31/12/2022 13:03

I went to the light trial at trentham on Thursday. Really lovely!
Drinks, food and roaring marshmallows pricey but no more so than you'd generally expect at these types of places.

featheryfancy · 31/12/2022 13:04

*toasting marshmallows even Xmas Blush

Bolesworth Castle near Chester was really good. Thought it was better than DM. Take a flask of hot chocolate with you

Fluffyslippersohyes · 31/12/2022 17:57

I’ve heard good things about the RHS at Bridgewater I think it is? The new one. Hope you find something nice. Trying to gauge where you are based. Yes it was pricey, we don’t do many treats like that but we do try and go to a Christmasssy one though.

Lightopia in Manchester was nice. No one pays full price though - they have a code kidsgofree for the last week so you only pay for the adult so it worked out really reasonable.

SequinsandStilettos · 31/12/2022 18:47

Northwest. Did not go today as pissing down with rain. I saw a 25% discount code for Lightopia but reviews on Trip advisor for that and Dunham were particularly scathing. Bolesworth, RHS glo and Walkden totally Xmas all finished now as has enchanted Knowsley.
Plan is now to try on the last day Monday 2nd for one, as weather is drier then and I don't want sick kids again. Will be grabbing pizza in a minute and bring ing in 2023 with Sam Ryder. Xmas Wink

My kids don't do fairground rides so no pressure there (but also no good if any of the above use funfair as a main thing). They don't skate either.
We did Trafford Centre Winter Wonderland last year and said never again Xmas Grin
So yes, will look again at potentially Monday. Que sera. Thanks so much for your help and ideas though, all of you. I also don't mind paying out for food and churros etc but more than a fiver boils my piss. Bah and indeed Humbug.
Happy 2023 to you all Xx
