My 16 year old son can be as grumpy as the rest of them, have to constantly nag him to keep his room tidy, do the recycling (his one and only job round the house!), walk the dog etc. Our text messages usually consist of him telling me he’s going to X’s house and me asking what time he’s coming home and how he’s getting back, does he have his keys etc, usually with repeated follow up ‘?’ messages because he hasn’t replied.

He’s just back from his dad’s for a couple of days just in time to scoff the plate of roast dinner I saved for him from when he was supposed to be back yesterday but changed his mind, and then grab a lift to his part time job. He must be on a break at work and has just sent me this:

‘I know this is random mum but these socks are the comfiest thing ever! Never knew socks could be comfy! 😂’

I can only assume he’s wearing some of his Christmas socks I bought him. Really made me smile and thought it nice of him to think to message me to show his appreciation in his own way while at work!

It’s the little things isn’t it? Share the ways your teens make you smile with the small things :)

I have 3 still at home, and my 18 year old now has a part time job. He bought his brother and sister a Christmas present each - university student DD got a Peppa Pig annual, and my 16 year old boy a Minecraft annual with puzzles!!!!
😁😁😁😁
they were thrilled! I always knew they couldn't hate each other as much as the arguments indicated 😂

I remember my 18 yr old telling me last year (after a few drinks!) that she was glad I stopped her from going drinking in the fields at 14 and going to a teen night at a dodgy club dressed up like something from only fans.

her words! She is very wise
