Term time only working - what are my chances?

I would like to request to work term time only so I don't have to find childcare for school holidays. Dd hates holiday clubs and there aren't any other options with family/friends.

I work in the NHS (non-clinical role) and don't know of anyone else with a term time only contract. What are my chances of getting a request approved? Anyone else in this position? TIA

Who would cover your work in the holidays? Would you work more hours in the term time or reduce your yearly number of hours? My work used to offer annualised hours, so people would work the same number of hours over the year as a standard 37.5 colleague, but pack them all in to term time, however they no longer offer this.

You don't get if you don't ask!

Get the job offer first and then start the negotiations. Think like a man.

You need to be able to show that the "business" won't be impacted negatively by the change. How will you do that?

I went to 2 days pw in school holidays, which meant my post was never completely uncovered and school holidays tended to be quieter times for us anyway.

I work part time and wouldn't be able to extend my hours beyond what I do now. The department where I work has new staff in and we are slightly over-staffed (almost unheard of in the NHS I know). I think there's enough staff to not miss me in school holidays and I already book my leave then anyway. I just don't have enough leave to cover all the holidays and would like to avoid the worry about finding childcare.

If it's refused you'll have transfersablr skills to move to a role in education I imagine.

I've just started a term time only job and it is amazing!! Such a stress relief not having to force kids to do clubs they don't want to do or that cost a fortune and no more faff of all the planning and organising and panic.
