Can anyone decipher this writing?

It's on a pottery ornament. Not valuable but I'd just like to know the manufacturer. The bottom word is Bonn, I'm pretty sure. But who is the German maker?

Thanks

I've been looking but not come up with anything.
What makes you think it's German? I see a lot of German names through work but the flow of this doesn't feel German, of the letters I can work out at least.

biedrona · 30/12/2022 11:22

second letter is o with umlaut

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 30/12/2022 11:31

How about taking a picture of the item and using Google images to see if you can find one the same? I have tried it with just the mark already with no luck though. It looks like a one off piece by a small maker rather than from a factory.

7catsisnotenough · 30/12/2022 11:34

I tried google lens but no luck, sorry!

How about taking a photo of the item and google lens searching it and then work backwards to see if you can identify the maker that way?

Or go old school and see if you can do a rubbing or tracing of the marks, they might be clearer like that?

If you post a picture of the item itself we might be able to come up with some ideas for you

Snap @Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight 👍🏼

The joined up writing makes it very tricky. But…..?

Can we see a pic of it "head on" rather than it's bottom Xmas Blush

Maybe we'd be able to narrow it down to a manufacturer then.

What era is it? Yes I think you'd do better posting a pic of the item and someone knowledgeable might be able to identify it or know a website which might help.

FleasNavidad · 30/12/2022 14:36

Torvig ...
Bonn

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2022 18:04

Oh, sorry, I've only just seen these replies. Here's the side-on view. Some sort of bird? I've assumed German because of the umlaut and what I'm reading as Bonn but could well be wrong on all of that.

No idea on era as picked up at a "vintage" sale so, guessing, 60s/70s. I just liked the colour and feel of it.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 30/12/2022 18:06

Could easily be Swedish.

Dartmoorcheffy · 30/12/2022 18:09

I think that's Swedish or Danish. 1960s/70s

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2022 18:11

A-ha, if only I actually spoke Swedish

OP posts:
TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 30/12/2022 18:14

True, it could also be Danish.

Might be easier to get some clay or play dough or something and stamp an impression into it. You’d probably have a clearer outline then.

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2022 18:30

I'll try the impression onto some clay or dough. Thanks. As it's not immediately legible, would that make it more likely to be an amateur's piece, made in a pottery class type thing?

OP posts:
Speedweed · 30/12/2022 18:39

Yes, it's called 'studio pottery' where it hasn't been made by a big name, so could be a hobbyist or a professional who never became that popular or normally made functional pots rather than ornaments.

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2022 18:41

Thanks @Speedweed

Whatever it is, I love it.

Cakeandcoffee93 · 30/12/2022 18:51

touvigncus?

Alexaplaysomething · 30/12/2022 18:57

I think the last letter on the bottom is an i.
There's a dot

Top word looks like
Törvigseny or something similar, no idea if that's an actual word.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 30/12/2022 19:05

Yes I think that’s a dot to an i as well. So I don’t think it’s Bonn.
