If you have had an enhanced Dbs check done, how long did it take?

Any way to speed the process up?

Mine took 6 days. My NHS trust does then in bulk, so I don't know if that makes any difference.

Potato28 · 29/12/2022 22:19

12 weeks

RhubarbFairy · 29/12/2022 22:34

I had one done in February. Done in two weeks. Changed jobs and had another started in June. Took 8 weeks. Got stuck at Stage 4 for 5 of those.

Just did one for an employee that took 10 weeks

Margo34 · 29/12/2022 23:10

About 5weeks.

EATmum · 29/12/2022 23:12

Do lots at work - there seems no reason to it. It can take one day or 12 weeks, for the same clear outcome.

roselune · 29/12/2022 23:13

I do them for employees and most are really quick, from 24 hrs to 2 weeks. (Just done five or so in the past month so this is currently.)

Nothing you can do to speed it up, though.

GoofyIsACow · 29/12/2022 23:15

My latest one took 36 hours, but i have an employee i’ve been waiting 6 weeks for and still waiting!

DumpedByText · 29/12/2022 23:19

I had one done in February to, took 10 days. I had another one done for a chaperone licence and it took 7 days.

DD0 · 29/12/2022 23:21

We are still waiting after 6 weeks for a basic check for an employee. I chased it last week and they advised that they are currently out on industrial action strikes, due back in the office today. No indication of how long the delay actually is however.

LipsSoScarlet · 29/12/2022 23:26

Mine was just a few days, and I’ve had moved a fair bit which is supposed to slow it down. I know others have waited a really long time. There’s nothing you can do to speed it up but your new employer should understand that they can sometimes be slow so it shouldn’t be anything to be worried about in terms of your new job.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 30/12/2022 07:38

About 2 weeks

Tootsey11 · 30/12/2022 09:57

Thanks everyone. Dp is waiting for one for a NHS role. They need him to start ASAP, and the dbs is holding everything up. He has a clear record, I just don't get how or what can hold these up if everything is fine.

My DBS check status has shown 'submitted, awaiting countersigning' for 5 weeks now. Should I be concerned? I want to start working soon and don't know how long more will I waiting for. Can companies rescind their job offer if the DBS takes too long? I really want to work with this company.
