Anyone tried vitamin b12 patches? Do they work?

My B12 vitamin levels are low but apparently not low enough for injections 🤨

The tablets/ supplements don’t seem to be working, I suspect they are not being absorbed well by my digestive system… Looking at alternatives I found patches on amazon that stick onto your skin and then I guess the vitamins absorb through your skin and get into your blood?

Anyone tried them? Do they work?

Spring for private injections mine are £20 and are worth every penny.

Sorry I can’t be helpful here because I haven’t tried them but would be interested. I previously used the tablets that dissolve under your tongue and are supposed to be absorbed there. Got them at Holland and Barrett.

I used patches yea, one on each ear lobe

And yes it worked but I’m an inpatient type and stick on two at once so

I've never heard of this and will look into it; as long as it is safe I might give it a go though I am all right on good supplements at the moment.

Ooh how long did it take to start working? … Did you feel better straight away? , also you stuck 2 on 🤣… I see you’re supposed to just use one once a week, I wondered if this would be enough tbh

Do you pay for them at the GP? I didn’t know this was an option 🤔

No, not the GP, just Google who offers it in your area. Beauty salons sometimes have someone who does it.

There are lots of people who order from Germany and self inject, you can buy hydroxocobalamin otc there and it gets through customs with no issue. The injections sting though, the solution is just a stinging solution for some reason.

I hope you feel better soon.

You can apparently get injection kits -syringes, drawing up needles & injecting needles online.

I don't absorb well from tablets either.

I take a wee under the tongue tablet. Goes straight into the bloodstream. I use a spray for vit D/K2. Works really well.

All my levels are low except B12 and D. So they clearly work.

How often do you get an injection? I assume beauty salons won’t be able to do blood tests to check vitamin levels?…

Also I’m not sure I could inject myself 😱… Maybe I could get my partner to do it lol

injections for a loading dose of B12 at the surgery are every other day for a total of 6 injections. Bloods are not retested unless someone becomes symptomatic again but, after a loading dose, OTC vitamins will keep you topped up.

If you have pernicious anaemia, Crohn’s disease or are on metformin or something that can cause deficiency, then injections are every 12 weeks.

StupidStupidStupidStupidStupid · 29/12/2022 15:03

If your levels aren’t low then you likely don’t need a loading dose tbh.
