Quiet NYE

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for this?
I'm looking for somewhere to spend New Year's Eve plus the next night too. It needs to be within reasonable travel distance of London on public transport and needs to be dog friendly.
Most important, it needs to be quiet! I don't actually bother to celebrate new year and will be happy to be in bed by 10pm. Also, my dog hates fireworks. So we both want quiet time.
Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hopeful bump

Not sure what you are looking for? A private hotel, Travelodge or Premier Inn won’t have any NYE celebrations going on and there are many of those in the suburbs of London near underground stations. Otherwise an ABNB might be the answer.

Why bother? You’re unlikely to find somewhere this late in the day surely… public transport will be impacted on NYD at least and the hassle alone seems silly to undergo for someone who is happy to go to bed at 10pm …

Why are you bothering to go somewhere?

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 29/12/2022 10:27

Why bother? Um, because I want to. Because I live fairly central in London which is very noisy on new year's eve, not just the fireworks at midnight but usually people setting them off into the early hours too. My dog hates fireworks and I fancy a break away.

so you want to go somewhere to avoid NY revelries? it wasn't clear.

isolated house in the country somewhere?

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 29/12/2022 10:30

Don't think anywhere is going to be quiet on NYE. Hate to break it to you.

Sometimes some nice shepherds huts around Surrey and Sussex which isn’t too far by train, log fires and country walks etc. Air bnb has a few usually.

Somewhere where you can walk in the evening comfortably with your dog perhaps? Though I'd expect accommodation last minute may be expensive.

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 29/12/2022 10:38

I was just looking for some suggestions or recommendations really, nothing complicated. I thought some might comment to suggest somewhere nice they had already been.
Will look at Abnb, thanks, actually had forgotten about that option.
