Gifts for A&E & Urgent Care Staff?

Hi Everyone!

On Christmas Eve I was sent to a&e from the urgent care centre with a rather bad infection and in anaphylaxis. Despite it being horrendously busy the nurses and doctors were absolutely fantastic until I was discharged in the early hours of this morning and I’d really like to pop a gift in for them (once I can actually get out of bed!) but I’m not sure if this is allowed with covid and various other infection control stuff.

Does anyone know if this would be okay and what kind of gifts would be appreciated if it is?

Thank you! :)

My daughter worked in A&E over Christmas. They get given (or staff bring in) lots of sweet things so maybe savoury snacks instead?

A tray of instant porridge pots or pot noodle sort of stuff so they can grab something to eat ?

I took a mixture which seemed to be appreciated
Chocolate biscuits (like Kit Kat type)
Sweets
The boxes of mini flapjacks/brownies you get
Huge box of pens
Mini squeeze bottles of cordial
Coffee sachets

Some other stuff I can't remember now

Heroes are easy and popular, and if there’s a box on the nurses’ station, they’re wrapped, which is helpful from an infection control perspective!
As a previous PP said, savoury things are also appreciated, things like cheese straws or grissini.
Lovely of you, OP, they’ll really appreciate that! Hope you feel better soon.💐

Fruit is appreciated, choose single portion, easy to eat, longer life eg apples, pears, tangerines

Some nice tea and coffee as we have to buy our own. And biscuits!

I'd love some tea bags please (working UCC today)

I have a café, when my dad was in and out of hospital I used to take loads of cakes in, cupcakes, brownies etc. They said they were great for having with a drink on their breaks.

DD works in a pharmacy and they were given lots of chocolates and biscuits from grateful customers and patients during the run up to Christmas. By the time she came home to visit she was chocolated out.

She said that if she was ever a grateful patient she would buy savoury snacks not big tubs of cheap chocolates. She did appreciate the sentiment though. So I agree with the "not chocolates" coments, especially not Roses/Heroes/Quality Street tubs, and would go with decent coffee/tea or savoury snacks.
