How the feck do you store pots and pans?

I am middle aged and then some and still haven't got this sussed. Frying pans, pots, lids. One big deep "pan drawer". How do I do this properly so it's not a big clanking pile of chaos?!

Stack them in a cupboard. Pan drawer too annoying

I have a small cupboard my pans live within each other like a Russian doll.
The lids are turned upside down and placed on top from smallest to biggest. It looks like when you buy a multipack of cheap pans.
All of my trays live inside the oven.

Thank you all, this is very helpful! Tefal ingenio sounds like something I need to investigate! Our pan drawer is under the sink which unfortunately leaks a bit, so pans are the safest thing to have in there.

Currently stacked in a cupboard, in my old house it was a pan drawer (marginally easier). I use protectors between them - like these: Pot and Pan Protectors, Set of 12 and 3 Different Size, Pot Dividers Pads/Stacking Pan Protectors/Pan Separators Pads for Protecting and Separating Pots and Pans amzn.eu/d/2S8EPax
