Funding while at university - Parent student.

I am wondering if anyone can advise me on what funding is available for a parent student please

A bit of info-

I will be mature student at the age of 30.

I have two children aged 4 and 6 (both in school full time).

My husband to be (in 1 months time) earns around £29,000. We live in Greater Manchester.

I believe my current wage wouldn't be used for calculating student finance etc as I will be leaving.

I am looking to study Biomedical science.

Not an NHS course so I won't be eligible got the £5000 bursary.

I am wondering is it just the 3 things I'm entitled to-

Student loan

Maintenance loan

And parents learning allowance.

Is there anything else that I may be entitled to?

(I do not claim any benefits, UC etc apart from the usual child benefit)

Or any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

A friend is in a similar situation to you (I’m not sure about her husbands income but I’m guessing no lower than yours) and she receives UC per month as a mature full time university student with children, I think they take off a certain amount per £ for every £ her husband earns above a certain level? So that might be an option.

I think you will be assessed as a 'family unit'. Look at what parents of younger students are expected to contribute when they earn a similar amount to your DH. Check the cut-offs for the part of the UK you live in.
Tuition fees are usually covered by loans for everyone. It is the maintenance element which is means-tested on income for the family unit.
