Your minor annoyances tonight.

Michael Buble singing some shitty Christmas song that I can't hear properly. Maybe that's a blessing but I can tell it's him. Coming straight after Nat King Cole singing The Christmas Song (chestnuts etc) it's an affront. I'm in a busy pub, by the way, and that isn't an annoyance 😉.

@NannyGythaOgg try taking a single layer of the tissue and take it off all the way round the roll. The perforations should now match up again.

Thanks but that's not the problem this time.

The perforations are lined up ok - they just don't go fully across the width of the roll, so have to tear the paper without the perforations to (a) make it easy to tear and (b) keeping the tear straight.

@The3rdWatermelon

What did you do in the end??

The3rdWatermelon · 27/12/2022 06:25

@00100001 Like a wet blanket, I folded. In-laws just turned up on Christmas Day (“just to see the baby for half an hour”) and stayed for 3 hours on my sofa (“we’ll be leaving in just a few minutes!”) while I perched my postpartum piles on the cat tree. At least Boxing Day wasn’t spent driving all over the place.

My minor annoyance was having to drive 140 miles twice this week to drop DH in his hometown to meet friends then having to back to pick MIL up for Xmas. MIL is going home today, DH's cars broke 🙄

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 27/12/2022 06:56

Oh, and I was looking forward to a lie in this morning but nope, I was woken up at 6am by DH snoring plus MIL snoring in the spare room

Very minor annoyances here. I'm bored but too tired to do anything fun, so sat here resisting the temptation to do some work. My other alternative is unfucking the house (after too many months of working ridiculous hours) which doesn't feel massively tempting, though I'm getting through it slowly. DH is also knackered, but has a magical ability to just sleep for hours and hours and hours, or sit and read and listen to music.

Also, we had our first 'proper' Christmas for 4 years, for the first time in many years it was just close family (not seen my parents since the summer), and my uncle brought a random friend with him who was a total stranger to all of us, unannounced (who then had dietrey requirements we had to cater for with no warning, 10 minutes before serving a 5 course meal). They were nice, but it totally changed the day, and I feel like we really missed another Christmas, as we were only home for that one day.

That was more moany than intended 🤔

Well, I suppose it's better than you driving round and being taxi?

Try and enjoy the Doldrums between now and New year!!

Minor annoyance for today: we're going for dinner at the in-laws tonight (not something I especially look forward to at the best of times) and DH has just announced that the long-planned curry (which I really had been looking forward to) is now a seafood chowder (that I don't much like) and he'd forgotten to tell me Hmm

I have the flu 3 days in feel awful, my H is coming down with it too, I cannot even be ill on my own

I had to take my DW's car for an MOT this morning, at 8:30. She came home from a night shift at 6:30. They told me it'd be ready between 12 and 1 pm, so an hour and a half of public transport to get home. I'd been back for less than an hour when they rang to say it was ready... So, another 90 minutes and I had it.

I've got a slipped disc, struggling to walk and an eye infection, so I was shattered, first thing. Still, it passed OK and the bus driver let me on with a Metro ticket, when I asked if it was OK for the bus. Turns out it wasn't, thanks, driver!
