MRI- how worried should I be

I've been referred for an MRI. The appointment has come through quite quickly approx 5 weeks from referral to scan inc xmas and new year. My df died of cancer and he had multiple scans at diagnosis (before covid). I've only been referred for this one.

My sil mum had a stroke this week and she's been told it'll be at least 8 weeks before her mri.

The scan is lumbar.

Should I be concerned that my appointment is quite quick, I'm grateful but wonder what the reason is. I am in pain but would think a stroke patient would be seen before me.

It might be down to available time. Having had MRIs on my head and back the head one was relatively quick, the head and neck have typically taken forever.

Are the MRIs at the same hospital?

Depends what type of scan you need. I think they allocate days of doing specific types of scan per scanner. To reduce waiting times. I have never had to wait more than a couple of weeks for one.

It's the postcode lottery. When I had an MRI 3 years ago for unexpected back pains, I was seen in 3 weeks whereas a friend's daughter had to wait 9 months for a MRI to monitor her ongoing non-curable condition.
