Ccj that I can't pay- what do I do?

This situation is entirely my own fault from burying my head in the sand plus really poor mental health over the past year I've just received a ccj from court, I didn't even fill out of the forms I received a few weeks ago because I completely forgot (a lot going on personally) which I know is so stupid because now they just want me to pay a lump sum of over £1400 which I can't.
how do I avoid bailiffs showing up? There's no information about what to do if I can't pay in full right away.
I don't even have anything of value for bailiffs to take anyway but I really want to avoid that happening!

You need to ring the court or baliff company and offer a payment plan, you'll need your incomings & outgoings. If you suffer with mental health explain that. They'll back off long as you keep to the agreement.

Stepchange says this.

What if I don’t have any money left over to pay my CCJ?

If you don’t have any money left over once you’ve paid your priority bills and debts, then you could make a token make an offer of whatever you feel you can afford, no matter how small.

If the court decides that you can't afford a monthly instalment, then the court will record it as a 'judgement forthwith'. This means your creditor can take further action, but they may decide it’s not cost effective to do so.

Your creditor could take further court action such as an attachment of earnings order or bailiff action.

We wouldn’t recommend leaving the offer of payment section blank or writing “£0” as the court will almost certainly give a judgment forthwith.

If you have no money left over to pay the CCJ, you would probably benefit from some help with your finances. Answer a few quick questions to find out how we can help you.

Give them a call and arrange a payment plan. They won’t have a problem with this. I have a CCJ and they demanded the whole lot from me initially in a letter but were really nice when I spoke to them on the phone.
