I got a text from a drunk man last night

He's a nice man, married and known to me as part of a friendship group who like a good night out. His wife doesn't, so he usually comes alone and I have never witnessed anything but impeccable behaviour from him, no matter how much we've all had to drink.

He's also a member of my running club, a bit quicker than me, but when I'm running at my best or he's recovering from injury we sometimes run together.

It's very unusual for him to contact me direct, outside of a group chat.

Anyway about 11:30 last night, I got a message full of typos saying he was on his way home but if he gets up, do I want to run this morning. I said, OK let me know what time you're going. (Probably makes no sense if you're not a runner but I never turn down a run!)

So, it's hammering down here, I have a busy day and could do with getting showered and getting on. Am I running with him this morning, or should I just go on my own? 😆

What a strange thread. ‘ a drunk man’ which makes it sound like a stranger but actually you know him well. Cause he asked if you wanted a morning run ?!

Well that’s a lot of drama about nothing! What on earth does the fact he’s married , or got drunk last night, or has impeccable behaviour got to do that a member of your running club has - shock horror - asked if you want to go for a run??
No - he doesn’t fancy you. He just thought,whilst drunk, that he might like to go for a run in the morning .

It's not going to b a very productive run if he has a hangover. Maybe he was so pissed he forgot he text you. I think he fancied you and that's why he was brave enough to text you when he was drunk. If wear baggy joggers if it were me in case he is a letch

Guarantee it will be denied but I think it's the other way around. Otherwise why start a thread about it? Op is interested but not getting anywhere.

No, I've never messaged him about anything (even drunk). I would message others in the group, but not him. It just wouldn't be right, he's respectful of his relationship and I like and respect his wife.

That's probably why it was such a surprise to get a late night message from him, actually.

"Thanks for the offer of a run. Have got to be done by 10:30 as a lot to get through, I'll be off at 9 if you want to join" or whatever your times are. That way if he wants a run you've offered, but you've also given him a time so if he doesn't respond you're free.

Ahh you want this to be more than just a run. Sorry OP it's quite obvious you're excited by the thought this man texted you when drunk, like it means something more? Otherwise you'd never give it a second though, least start a whole long winded thread about it!

Oh dear it's true I was bored this morning, but my self esteem isn't so low I'm excited to receive a drunk text from a married man. I'd be really sad if he did turn out to be a cheat, he's one of those men who make you believe they can be decent. Plus his wife is lovely and so am I!

I've had three texts from perfectly eligible single men this week and am actually quite enjoying life currently.
