Heating nursery overnight

We have recently moved our 8 month old into her own room and I’m now wondering how to keep her room a decent temp overnight. It has two external walls, old house and poorly insulated. We are working on that! It frequently drops below 16 degrees overnight. Can we program just her radiator to come on without manually turning off all others? Or a plug in oil heater? Or any other ideas to stop the poor girl freezing?!

We had a similar issue and when both DCs were babies we used sleep suits which were like winter baby sleeping bags but with legs. I think I got one from Jojo thingy Bebe.

I never heated my kids room, just use thicker sleepwear.

She currently wears long sleeve vest, babygrow and 2.5tog bag and her chest is cool to touch overnight. That’s an extra layer compared to the recommendations but I’m assuming they are on the cooler side. Maybe I need to look into thicker bags then!

We never heated our dcs rooms and still don’t. They just wear/have
extra layers.

Our boiler went a few weeks ago and took over a week to get fixed. During that time I had a little convector heater with thermostat in DS room which kept it a lovely temperature all night. Worked better than the central heating at maintaining a good temp tbh. Minimal energy usage too.

DDs room is the same. We got her a sleeping bag (also JoJo) with sleeves which seemed to keep her toasty.

You get 3.5tog bags
We've never had heating on overnight

If you have a wireless thermostat, put it in that room with the TRV set to maximum (usually 6). Set the thermostat to at least 19.5°C (or what you can afford). The recommended temperature for a baby's room is 16-20°C, but higher (20°C) is better.

That room will then control the central heating.

In the other rooms, turn the TRVs down to just under 3 (roughly 18°C) or maybe 2, if money is tight.

The thermostat will call for heat and keep the nursery at the programmed temperature. The radiators in the other rooms will only get warm is the room temperature falls below the temperature set via the TRVs.
