Is this cheeky?

Had a text last night from a work colleague. We get on quite well and I let her park her car on my drive when she went on holiday as I live near an airport so I am happy to help but this message said hi did you say you had a tumble dryer. My heating has gone again and I need to get washing done and dried before Xmas. No how are you or even please can I use. Also this colleague has been asked to help with something at work and the other day I was busy so I messaged her (wfh) saying could she please do this task if she has time and she sent me a passive aggressive message back saying I'm good thanks how are you. AIBU that I replied saying oh no I'm sure there's a launderette near you.

No sounds like a perfect response! Especially seeing as she didn’t actually ask. Sounds like a prickly individual.

nancydroo · 22/12/2022 10:45

Send 'I'm good thanks how are you" just like she did because she sees that as an acceptable retort

This is exactly what I was going to say! She’s all take and no give and I wouldn’t help her any more.

PenanceAdair · 22/12/2022 10:48

You did the right thing. Best to nip it in the bud early or else, she'll be asking for more each time.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/12/2022 10:48

Thank you! I'm such a nice person that I feel bad now! But she would come here and just use my dryer for hours. And she didn't have one in the first place anyway. Also we went to the pub for team Xmas lunch and I asked if I could jump in her car and I'd drive next time. You'd have thought I'd asked for a ride around the Himalayas! Even if she's said if I bring some coffee and biscuits please can I dry my washing at your house.

She is a cheeky bugger. Don't do her drying for her if reply to her the way she replied to you! Don't feel bad!

I was very tempted 😂

She's all take and no give, with no remorse too. Not the best person to 'help' unless you really want to. Sounds like an opportunist and entitled.

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/12/2022 10:50

“No, sorry, I’m not running my dryer anymore”.

dogtheted · 22/12/2022 10:50

Fuck no.

Tell her your dryer is broken.

nancydroo · 22/12/2022 10:51

😂 Your electric bill would be through the roof. She is a nightmare keep at a distance. Total user.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/12/2022 10:51

Also after the car thing she made this big song and dance of wanting to take me for dinner. I said it wasn't necessary but I would go out with her and she cancelled saying she had to go to the dentist! Then sent me some little bookmarks from Amazon which was nice of her tbh but she made a big thing of it all

In response to me saying about the launderette she said ok thanks anyway and I just said hope you get sorted. It's not even like I live that close really. She'd pass a laundrette on the way

just say sorry no, I cant offer that, then block her temporarily, ust until after Christmas, so you dont get drawn in any further. You dont have to give any reason or excuse

That was my thinking too.

Good. One less person you don’t exactly like to deal with.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/12/2022 03:11

Lol. I do quite like her as a person to talk to. She ruins it for herself.
