Help! Advice needed regarding neighbours Amazon package

Hi,
Im staying in my parents place in London, they are abroad and let me stay there for a few days to check on things etc. I very foolishly took my parents neighbours package thinking I will hand it to them in the evening. 3 days have gone by and all their lights are off- I think they are on holiday. Im due to leave tomorrow, I live in another city. What do I do with the neighbours parcel? Is there a depot I can drop it off to, it is unfair to give it to another neighbour...

Is it? I know on Mumsnet people have to make an appointment to ring someone's doorbell and find taking in parcels an imposition of outrageous proportions. In real life most people wouldn't mind in the least.

I'd at least ask another neighbour if they minded as my first option.

Nah I'd just leave it. It's not your fault they're away and had parcels coming. They can wait until your parents are back .

Problem is, even if you put a note through the door saying it's at another neighbor, they could deny it and say you nicked it. It's not worth it given there's a card been put through the door saying it's at your parents house.

When are your parents back? Are they just on holiday or away for longer?

ChristopherWren80 · 21/12/2022 23:41

@namechange3394 my parents are away for another 2 months...getting treatment..

I will be coming back to my parents house at the end of Feb...is it cheeky to give it to them then?! I will leave a note. My sister lives 15 mins away and has the key. Maybe she can liase with them. I dont know the neighbours- things have changed so much since I lived there....most of the houses are rentals with a high turnover of people.

Thank you for all the replies....

I’d open and and see if it’s anything perishable first. If it is, you may as well just leave it outside their door with a note.
if not, I’d put a note through their door explaining what’s happened and they can contact your sister if it’s urgent.
