Good Morning All! What are your plans for the day?

I'm just enjoying my first cuppa of the day, watching the birds flit to and from the huge sycamore at the end of my garden.

I've not got much planned for the day; I want to marzipan our Christmas cake, and clean the downstairs loo. And, I was given a HUGE bag of veg last night so I'll properly investigate that, & blanche and freeze any that won't be used soon.

I need to wrap one present too, but will wait and see if any of the other three arrive today first.

I might spend the afternoon crocheting in peace - I don't think the girls were fussed about doing much but we'll see when they get up.

Not sure what's for tea yet, I'll look shortly.

What about you? 🌲

Oh wow @GingerLiberalFeminist! Sending you strong baby eviction vibes!

SageYourResoluteOracle · 21/12/2022 11:05

Ooooh I love your threads @lucysmam! it’s endlessly fascinating having a peek into The Lives of Others whilst I procrastinate about my own to do list… It’s epic and I just want to stay in bed. Sigh.

DP is out at work and after today has two more days in his current job before starting a new one in January so I’m looking forward to some time together.

DD is still in bed but has had breakfast, which is something. She had a braid removal and restyle yesterday, which took 5 hours and then was at the cinema with a friend to see Avatar 2 so is zonked today!

DSS is here from Friday night, which will be ace as it’ll be the first time he’s had Christmas here. And the in-laws arrive on Saturday early afternoon so because DD and out visiting people tomorrow and then I have food collecting etc to do on Friday, today is the deep clean day… soooo envious of those of you with cleaners but hey ho.

So far, I’ve hung washing on the heated airer; folded and put away another load and gave towels fluffing up in the tumbler dryer. The dishwasher is on and I’ve set the washing machine to do a deep clean cycle with vinegar. I’ve mould-sprayed and viakalled the heck out of the grimy bits in the bathroom (possibly an error using as much as I did as I near asphyxiated self when I went in to wipe and rinse…) and have just now had porridge with grated apple, chia seeds and maple syrup. I absolutely definitely didn’t have a dollop if clotted brandy cream on top…

Made an attempt at getting a window cleaner to do windows before Christmas but they’re all fully-booked. Fair enough. DP will probably do this on Saturday morning.

So, jobs:

  • finish bathroom deep clean
  • glaze then marzipan cake
  • bake gingerbread for neighbours and write their cards before dropping off
  • lob obvious bits of stuff needing dealt with after Christmas into loft (DP, being the romantic soul that he is, has suggested we spend Thursday and Friday of next week emptying the loft so he can add more insulation…)
  • move some bits from DSS’s room into the storage bed in our room
  • tidy wardrobe a bit: we only moved back into our room a couple of weeks ago as DP’s done a complete rebuild, reconfigure and redecorate
  • Pop money into wallet for DFIL and voucher into a second wallet for DMIL
  • make a start on cleaning the rest of the house!
  • fajitas for dinner followed by The Traitors… penultimate episode, I think!!

i suppose I’d better crack on…

Oh goodness @GingerLiberalFeminist that’s so exciting but also knackering after so baby hours. Good luck!

Mogloveseggs · 21/12/2022 11:12

Good morning
I'm at work till 3pm then need to do a bit of a food shop.
Try to get to hospital to see mil (time dependent) and then I'm out for a Christmas meal with our guiding unit which I'm really looking forward to.

lucysmam · 21/12/2022 11:16

@GingerLiberalFeminist tbf, they may be onto a good thing in there 🤣 I hope the birth is straightforward for you both, when baby is ready, of course 💐

Marking essays then this afternoon I'm going to go to the supermarket to get some of the 19p veg and prep and freeze it. I also need to walk dogs and wrap presents. Busy day.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 21/12/2022 11:22

@RambamThankyouMam Good luck with the doughnut frenzy! DD’s school had its Chanukah party yesterday, and DD came home sugared up and clutching one final doughnut for the road.

DaftyInTheMiddle · 21/12/2022 11:23

16 month old DD has just gotten over a bout of gastroenteritis so is off to spend time with grandma while I try not to vomit my insides out as she’s passed it onto me 🤮

gingercat02 · 21/12/2022 11:24

We are all still at work and school 😪 I'm jealous now.
DH finishes tonight, he's off to Scotland to pick up his Mum. DS and I are slogging on until Friday lunchtime. Then is officially Christmas 🎄🎁🌟🍷

Final day in my job then 3 weeks off before new job! Frantically writing handover notes / procrastinating here

PopsicleHustler · 21/12/2022 11:30

Currently having a nice bubble bath whilst my eldest two teen and tween do a quick whip round with the hoover and washing up etc, youngest kids can tidy away the play doh and toys. Then have lunch, finish some work and spend the evening planning the rest of the holidays. We are Muslim and don't celebrate Christmas but will like to try and do a few things, arts and crafts, puzzle and games day, movie day, baking day, a quiz for the kids and prizes to win, they love that.

My husband has suggested going out on Saturday or after Xmas, but I am heavily pregnant with a hernia and not feeling up to it as I even struggle with the 10 minute school run. He has suggested pushing me in a hired wheelchair bless him so I don't miss out. I love family outings

Simonjt · 21/12/2022 11:52

Good morning everyone, we’re at heathrow terminal 5, please wave if you see the stressed and knackered looking family! It isn’t very busy, it took us at most ten minutes to get through security, the departures lounges actually have plenty of space to sit down. The baby is having a danger nap so she’ll be nice and alert on the flight, perfect.

We’re off to Sweden today until the end of December, we’re spending the first two nights with my husbands grandma, so we’ll be fed until we burst. After that we’re driving to his summer house for the rest of the trip, so it will be nice having lots of snow.

@GingerLiberalFeminist An xmas baby, how exciting! Good luck

GingerLiberalFeminist · 21/12/2022 15:10

Thanks for all the good wishes! Sadly nothing has changed!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 21/12/2022 21:59

Come on, baby! Come and see the outside world!
