Random good deeds

I'm off work for 2 weeks over Christmas and I'd like to do a good deed each day. I haven't got a big budget, maybe £20-30 for the lot so it'll need to be things that don't cost much/anything. Ideas welcome for anonymous good deeds please.

Litter pick in your street.

Get in touch with the local food bank.

On Christmas eve a lot of shops give left over food and getting it distributed at 11pm is mayhem.

Volunteer for the local food bank

Needthisjob · 18/12/2022 20:57

I'm not sure the food bank would want a volunteer at this late stage.

Here's a few I can think of

give a stranger a compliment
do a clear out and donate anything suitable to charity
give blood (or make an appointment to at some point in the future)
sign up for organ donation (if you want and not already)
pay for a strangers coffee / the person behind you in the drive through
put something to put in your supermarkets food bins with your next shop
write some positive notes on sticky notes and stick them random places

OK so you don't want to communicate with the food bank.

You could post on your local Spotted FB group that you would like to give a Christmas dinner to someone in need.

Thank you.

If you see a police car/ambulance, a thank you note and a chocolate bar
I've done it when I've seen them at the garage, paid for a bag of chocolates and asked the cashier to give them to them

Took out hot drinks to the council workers sorting the trees in the freeze last week, they were very appreciative, if you see anyone in need.

Take chocolate or board games to your nearest care home, I work for several and many residents don't have visitors at Christmas (for a myriad of reasons ofc).

How lovely, good deeds don't have to cost much. Simply being aware of people and trying help where you can can make a big difference. This time of year can be manic or lonely for lots. Smile and compliment anyone you can, especially if by themselves. Offer to carry things when people may be struggling etc.

Take chocolates to local shops, doctors, vets etc anywhere you go where they may feel underappreciated or stressed this time of year.
