Ideas for a Christmas Day out in London

My DD (20) and I always have a day in London before Xmas.

I’m looking for some new ideas this year maybe including a cocktail somewhere and definitely including a quick trip to Fortnums.

We get into Paddington about 10.30 and leave again at 8.45pm

We’re not really bothered about shopping other than the quick trip to Fortnums.

We live in the sticks and only go to London once a year and don’t know it particularly well.

Just want a really Christmassy feeling day out, I’ve got some ideas but wondering what others would do.

Battersea power station then walk across the bridge and around the Chelsea hospital gardens.

Corinthia alpine bar is £££ but lovely for a festive drink.

I love the Artesian at the Langham for fancy cocktails - expensive but lots of fun. You can definitely just walk in off the street though it’ll likely be busy in the evening, not sure if there’s a dress code, I’d guess not and if there is it’s not strict as I’ve been in jeans.

Portabllo/Notting Hill.
Get off at Holland park and just opp tube are the huge white houses people like Simon cowell live in/ posh and Becks. Then meander towards Notting hill and meandering down to portabllo road... westbourne park and have a drink in BBB. Beach blanket Babylon.

Greenwich? There’s the covered market (food stalls and crafty, quirky stuff), which is nice at this time of year, there’s also an outdoor flea market. There’s the park, which is lovely to wander in - great views over London from the top of the hill. There’s lots of history and the museums if that’s your thing. Some nice pubs on the river, and Greenwich itself has some quite nice independent shops.

That's a lovely idea and you can arrive by boat from the West End.

Maybe take a river bus (Uber Boat) to Greenwich or Battersea Power Station from centre of town for drinks? Embankment or South Bank can be a good place to start

@TheFlis12345 is there a specific time for that?

Nope, they open mid afternoon and the staff sing through serving until close ( though the style of music ramps up the later you get). It gets very busy in the evening though so you would want to book then, especially at this time of year.

Good Call
I would also recommend Greenwich

Harrods has a free Dior exhibition - tickets were getting booked up so not sure if there are any still available

If you go late afternoon, you can then get a bus back through town Oxford street etc and see the lights,

Battersea Power Station as mentioned above - has a new ice skating rink and bar if that's your thing

Greenwich has an advent window trail. Travelling g on the river by an Uber boat after dark is great as the bridges are all lit up.
