What changes do you want to make for 2023?

I'm sat here with my journal and reflecting on the year.

Back in summer I wrote a list of things to do each month and separated it into 4 sections: family, self, work and social/friends. Each month I've been ticking off what I did do and circling what I didn't.

I'm looking for inspiration on what to include or skip next year but want to start doing that now and edit some of my monthly lists.

Things I need to persevere with:
Eating well
Drinking water
Doing my daily skin care routine
Spending time and money on myself
Trying to worry less and feel less guilty
Write in my journal daily

Things I'm going to stop doing or try to stop:
Feeling like I'm not enough
Worrying so much
Jumping to planning for the worst case scenario/ assuming the worst thing will happen

They all sound great!
Mine wd be:

  • carry on drinking less
  • be kinder to myself
  • meditate
  • be kind to others
  • be honest to myself
  • carry on with the god-awful homeade morning smoothie
-Read
  • spend less time on MN

Being kind to yourself is so important, I'll add this to my list too

Also like the idea of mediation

I refuse to buy another bag for life and vow always to keep a trolley token in the car. I think this is acheivable.

Less scrolling

I had a trolley token that went on a keyring. It was amazing (until I lost it).

I would like to:
Find a job (after redundancy)
Declutter 1,000 items from my house and not let too much back in
Restart daily Pilates

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 19/12/2022 08:39

I'm hoping to have a no spend year (only essentials) and to get to a healthy BMI.

I'm only 2 stone overweight but bordering on obese.

ShinySylveon · 19/12/2022 08:47

Stop drinking and lose the excess 4 stone now I'm on thyroid medication. Live a much healthier lifestyle.

FrenchFancie · 19/12/2022 08:55

I’ve started a list - I wanted to do ‘23 things in 23’ type thing

  • lose 23lbs (I need to lose much more but this would be a good start)
  • read 23 books
  • create 23 craft things (knit /crochet / paint /whatever)
  • learn to swim properly and swim 23 lengths
BigCupOfMilkyTeaPlease · 19/12/2022 09:06

Great idea for a thread Op! I want to:

  • Restart learning German on Duolingo
  • Work on having better boundaries, as starting a new job in January
  • Restart Ozempic and lose a few stones
  • Finish as much work in the house as we can afford
  • Declutter the house & then get a cleaner to help out
  • Try to pay off debts
  • Exercise
  • Learn to cook more from scratch
  • Try and be more social
  • Improve my relationship with DH
  • Get in a better routine with the kids
dirtyfries · 19/12/2022 09:10

Great list OP, mine is:

  • commit to tidying as I go (after 18 months as a FTM the house is a tip at the end of each day)
  • iron/multivitamin daily
  • mindful purchasing to try and avoid clutter
  • drink more water
ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 19/12/2022 09:17

Great ideas.

I hope to massively declutter by spring, resume learning Spanish and find a way to supplement my income.

TangoTarantella · 19/12/2022 09:19

Find a new job that aligns with who I am now. Almost 50 and find I can no longer care about career and making money for shareholders. I want a quiet, purposeful life doing something that makes a positive difference.

BiddyPop · 19/12/2022 09:48

I need to get back to making salads the night before for office lunches.

And swimming more frequently for exercise and mental health. (And actually turning up to my weekly yoga class).

Start leaving the office at a reasonable time.

Stop the negative "you're not good enough" mental narrative (I've proven that I am in so many ways - I just need to stop letting the teen's negativity get to me).

Make time for catching up with friends again.

wiltingflower · 19/12/2022 12:14

So many of you have things I now need to add to my list, this is brilliant, thank you 😀

23 things for 23 and decluttering 1000 items is interesting, I'm trying to make lists for each and am finding it difficult in different ways- I need it though

Making lunch the night before work is a big one for me- too many weeks have gone by where I've not eaten properly at work

Back to drinking less - once a week only.
Continue to maintain a healthy BMI and lifestyle.
Meal planning to save money.
Be more present - less phone time.

RopeyOldBird · 19/12/2022 12:21

Mine is basically to stop procrastinating.
Then I'd be able to finish learning sign language, learn to play the guitar that is gathering dust in the corner of the room, and generally have a greater sense of achievement.
