Risk assessment for pregnancy

I told my manager I am pregnant a week ago and she hasn’t conducted a risk assessment or made any changes to my work, which she should have. Can anyone advise the legal way to go about things from now onwards please as my manager doesn’t like me at all and I’m concerned she will make my job difficult and push me out. Do I contact HR and skip her altogether? We work alongside each other so she knows what is required and has chosen to ignore it. Tia

Did you inform in writing?

I would contact your H&S bod and seek their advice. They are better positioned to inform your Manager of her legal requirements and may be able to do it for you

Thanks for replying, no it isn’t in writing as I told my manager casually long before I wanted to as she asked me to do something I wasn’t comfortable with. She has ignored it since so I wasn’t sure what to do next. I will contact HR, at least I know it’ll be in writing and she can’t deny knowing.

When I line managed a pregnant employee there was a template that I had to fill in which was pretty simple and took only a few minutes so really there is no excuse to not do one. As we were office basef though there was no real risks so it was pretty easy. No one did one for either of my pregnancies though as my manager was shit.

Is it likely that you will need changes to your work? If so then you really need to push for it.

Thanks, yes I’ll need to step down to a lower position which is why I’m concerned it hasn’t started yet. If I go to HR will my manager be in trouble? She clearly hates me and is probably delaying it to make my work days harder. I’m already suffering with lower back pain and possible spd as I had with my dd.

I would have followed up in writing. How about emailing HR tomorrow? Then the wheels will have to go into motion.

How does your company handbook ask to be informed?

It doesn’t mention anything about it, just very basic information about maternity leave and SMP, confirming with MATB1 form and how much notice is required. Considering it’s a predominantly female workplace it’s shocking.
