Unusual supermarket buys to try

I do appreciate the tough times we are living through and people are having to make difficult choices and cutting back on what they buy. However, are there any unusual supermarket items that people consider to be a worthwhile buy? I get rather overwhelmed in supermarkets and largely purchase the same things week in and week out. (There seems
to be almost too much choice and too many varieties!) Am I missing something? A different flavour/version of a staple? An unusual ingredient that brings recipes to life? Any recommendations welcome! I’m in the favourable position of having all the main supermarkets within easy reach.

Thanks (and apologies if anyone reads my post as being tone deaf).

Aldi currently have a 50mth matured cheddar which is lovely- if you like a strong, vintage cheddar

They also do a chilli jam I put onto hash browns with avocado/poached eggs

Probably not that unusual but, pataks tikka paste about £3 a jar but you don't need loads. We generally mix with Yoghurt and tomato puree and then marinade some meat before cooking. But I've used it in pasta sauces and loads of other things. I normally use about half a teaspoon for one person serving.

We also almost always have some chorizo in the fridge. It's really useful for making a quick pasta dish or adding to some noodles and really adds a lot of flavour for a small amount.

Ginger (fresh/root) is my final one, I tend to freeze it and it can be grated from frozen and added to loads of things. Mainly stir fry's in our house, but it gives a really fresh taste.

Mine wasn't really unusual, just stuff that I like.

Asda do orange chocolate profiteroles but I haven't tried them yet.
