My DP was driving today with me and we came to a junction at a roundabout where the car in front pulled out then stopped my DP bumped into her . He then indicated to her if she wanted to drive further down the road away from the junction as he thought she would want to swap insurance details but she then sped off round the roundabout at speed . We were going same way and went down the dual carriageway where she’s saw us and veered off into another road without indicating at speed again . Our car is fine and hers looked to be but we don’t understand why she drove off when my DP would have been happy to give her his details he’s never had an accident in 16 years of driving . I didn’t get her her reg but she had a fairly unusual old car for roundabout our area . The whole thing was quite scary though

Maybe she had been drinking, didn't have insurance or a licence??

Sunshineandrainbow · 17/12/2022 18:12

She prob had no insurance so didn't want to Exchange details with you.

HollyDollyChristmas · 17/12/2022 18:13

Report it online with your local police force even though you don’t have their details because if they report it and you don’t you could be looking at the offence of failing to report a collision.

Threadkillacilla · 17/12/2022 18:16

If it was an old car she might be more concerned it's written off. It happened to me in my old banger and I just thought fuck it I won't get much from the insurance to replace.

It was just really strange the way she flew off it’s just the first time something like this has ever happened to us and it was just horrible

That's very suspicious behaviour which you should report to the police.

That driver might not have any insurance, could have twocked the car, had no insurance, etc.

But it isn't normal behaviour after any kind of prang.

Sweetlikechocolate6 · 17/12/2022 19:57

@DownNative stupidly I never got a note of her registration

No license/insurance/both most likely. Given that rear ends are generally the fault of the person behind she's probably done you a favour. If there's no damage I'd forget about it, otherwise call your insurance company, but even if they take your side you'll likely lose your no claims because you didn't get her number.

It didn't happen to you though, it happened to her. Whatever reason she had for driving away it was your car who hit hers. Please make sure it's reported to the insurance, she may well report it.
