Haven’t done one of these for a while - what’s everyone up to with a week to go til Christmas Eve? Can’t believe it! I’m just waiting for the butter to soften so I can put it on toast with my lovely sounding soup ( lentil & red pepper). Went into town early to put some money in the bank & get trainers for DD14. Just been trying to calculate some dates for my work holidays next year as everything gets booked up really quickly. Listening to festive music & carols on Classic FM. DD14 is in her room as per but she’s coming with me to DM & DF’s later. DF was really knocked for six by a virus & DM was in hospital then contracted Covid when she got home so we haven’t seen them for ages except through the window 😢
Still got a few pressies to wrap but no more to buy. Need to do a fair amount of tidying & cleaning, although it’s just us for Christmas lunch this year. My kitchen table is there somewhere! Might sort out all the bags & boxes in our bedroom later. I should have advertised some of DD’s dresses on Vinted or similar. Could certainly do with the extra money! Not sure what we’ll watch tonight. Maybe a Christmas movie. The Strictly Final is on but for some reason I haven’t got into it this year. Nice easy tea of bangers, double cream mash & baked beans as I forgot to defrost the pork steaks. I may have a cheeky Baileys. Tescos had it reduced from £23 to £10 recently

Yesterday I took my daughter skating at Somerset House. Normally go to Natural History Museum but they are no longer doing it. Today she had piano lesson and me a chilly dog walk. Then she declared she 'needed' a panini, so off to Costa which is in a shopping mall so somehow we ended up at H&M! She got a couple shirts and sweaters from the trip! I don't mind she so rarely asks for any clothes, but she's in sixth form so no uniform and she has developed an interest in fashion.
My son is working in a Christmas pop up shop.
Now home - she needs to clean her room and I'm watching Kirstie's Homemade Christmas.

DH has driven DS to a costume party.
Dcat and I are sitting on the sofa by the Christmas tree recovering from a heavy cold, sore throat and drinks party last night.
I am about to brave the frost to turn the outside Christmas lights on. Then I'll make a cup of tea.

Had quite a busy morning, did a workout, walked the dog, made some tomato and lentil soup for lunch. Dh did all the school uniform washing.

Currently on the sofa half watching football with dh and ds. Dd’s are upstairs (hopefully some revision going on).

I should really get off the sofa and do 20 mins of yoga after todays workout.

I haven’t got into strictly either this year. Having a hot picky tea later (yes I know MN hates that Grin). With wine.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

Had a rare night out so tired today but managed to wash all floors and replace batteries in the garlands and fairy lights around the house (they’ve dulled over the past two weeks)

house feels fresh and strictly later

I’ve done all the laundry, dried, ironed and put away, the kids have been out playing in the snow and DD is now in a bath, DS is making a supersonic Santa sleight out of Lego. We’re going to build and decorate gingerbread Christmas trees (from a brilliant gingerbread house/tree/sleigh set from Costco).

Later we’re going to a friends Christmas concert. No idea what’s for dinner - I’ll sort something from the fridge later.

Just made some mince pies and jam tarts with the left over pastry.

Got a horrible respiratory type bug so it's been a slow potter about day.

Nipped to the Christmas market and bought some venison and chorizo sausages along with a couple of partridge and tarragon pies which I've been dying to try.

Got home and got the wood burner on. Tidied some drawers, did a bit of laundry and some baking. Going to read my book now whilst DH does the ironing watching football.
