Online Doctors (not NHS) - how do they work, e.g. prescriptions?

Has anyone used one of the online Doctors? If so, how does it work when they give you a prescription - do you just go to any chemist and does it cost more than an NHS prescription? Also, does the online GP let your NHS GP know?

I've been offered the use of online GP through work and I want to use it to ease any pressure on my GP, but I'm not sure if I should use for certain things rather than others (e.g. I have a toddler who gets every bug going around!)?

The prescription is sent to a pharmacy nominated by you. All private prescriptions are for the cost of the medication, so it sometimes works out cheaper & sometimes more expensive than NHS prescriptions.
Many online doctors will not do virtual consults for children as they often need to be seen face to face.

Thanks @Sancerre2 . If I use the online Dr a few times, I can still use NHS Dr later - they won't 'mind'. I know that sounds weird!

No they won't mind. Online dr usually sends a summary of consultation to NHS GP to update their records. You will always be registered with your NHS GP unless you register with a different NHS GP.
