I'm so proud I have to tell someone else cos I've run out of people to tell IRL 😁 Last night my 11yr old DD performed in her Christmas show at school. She did a dance with her drama class to a song from The Greatest Showman but before that she did a solo to Never Enough (also TGS), all by herself. Just her on the stage in the spotlight. Just a few short years ago (well it feels like that anyway!) she was the one sitting in the teachers lap during nursery/reception nativities hiding her face cos she didn't want to do it! And she had the courage to get up on that stage, in front of a hall full of parents and sing a really difficult song and she smashed it. For reference the only other kids who did solos were all year 10's/11's!

I cried, and I even did that thing where you nudge the person next to you and go "That's my daughter up there" ☺️

Although on the way home she told me "I thought I saw you in the audience and I was looking at you, but it turns out it was actually an old granny" 🙄😂

What have your kids done recently to make you super proud?

That is lovely. Well done to her.

It is a nice function of MN - somewhere to show off about your kids Grin

How wonderful for your little girl! My special boy has been taken off his ankle monitor just in time for christmas. I couldn’t be prouder. Roll on Christmas Eve at the local!

Do you mean a baby who's been constantly monitored?
If so, that's great news!

The Christmas Eve in the pub makes me think of something else entirely though Grin

I wish, unfortunately my boy has had a rough few years and got in with the wrong crowd. Becoming a teenager is so rough!

Ah that's what I thought it might be @Thriftyfifty66.

Hopefully he's on the straight and narrow now and can turn things around.

He’s definitely on the right track. He’s been volunteering to help with the washing and applied for a job the other day!

That's great news @Thriftyfifty66 - here's to a positive 2023 Xmas Smile

Don't be a dick @AbsolutelyFuckingSick. She's allowed to be proud of her son for learning from his mistakes.

This thread is meant to be filled with positivity. I’m disappointed someone would ruin it so quickly. Why can’t we celebrate our children without judgemental judys speaking up?

Lovely thread is going well so far. I've also had two great Christmas concerts featuring my son with ASD. Always super proud of him for being able to participate and enjoy himself. Especially as the last one was 3 years ago.

LadyLaLaa · 16/12/2022 16:36

That's lovely op.

@AbsolutelyFuckingSick It's not a low bar though is it ? 'Couldn't be prouder' means it's the most most most proud you could ever be. I don't see that as a low bar.

SNWannabe · 16/12/2022 16:37

I’m proud of all my “babies”. The eldest is living with his GF and they have a lovely life with date nights and weekends away and he is currently messaging me to ask about what gifts to get for his siblings/neice&nephew. My elder dd is a wonderful mum of 2 who is bossing mum life even though the wee ones are little terrors. I’m proud of them too- littlest isn’t even 2 yet but has wonderful language and imagination skills already and the 4 year old is coming on with his art and writing too. They’re such fun to be with. My younger dd I’m proud of for managing a whole week at school, she’s been struggling and had a reduced timetable for a while to help her cope so this is a big deal, and my youngest I am proud of for overcoming his worries and enjoying his football and friends again.

VenusClapTrap · 16/12/2022 16:47

Dd, who was always a quiet middle and very much Miss Average academically at primary school, has suddenly and unexpectedly taken flight now she’s moved to a supportive, encouraging secondary, and she just scored nine A*s and two As in her Christmas exams.

Not something you can brag about in real life without coming across as a dick, so thank you for this thread op!

It’s lovely reading about everyone’s pride in their dc, no matter what it is they’ve achieved. It’s all absolutely worth celebrating. 👏

@MNHQ can you please explain?

Did they think she's a troll maybe?

I love these threads.
My two year old boy had his leg amputated this year and learnt to walk just 4 months ago, I feel super proud every day watching him run around everywhere on his prosthetic leg 🥰
