How many Christmas days out do you do with you DC?

We’ve done 1 so far and have another coming up this weekend. DC is only 3 though so I assume this will increase in the next few years.

Depends what your definition of a trip out is. We went to see Santa yesterday and we have two light walks planned (one was free though). He's also been to nursery and toddler group christmas parties - does that count?

Greydogs123 · 15/12/2022 08:19

We used to do 3 or so - Santa visit, a Christmas “event” and christingle service. This year we’ve done Santa and an ice skating/winter wonderland, I did have another outing planned, but I’ve sold the tickets because dd has not really “enjoyed” anything other than Santa. She’s ten now and has become a little anxious, so the very crowded Christmas events are no longer fun for her.

4 or 5 usually. We have done only 2 so far this year as we had other things on.

Santa at school fair and grandparents have paid for panto. We were going to do some NT free Christmas story things but the kids have been ill. We’ve done some crafts at home too. We will have late night film night at home this weekend. Probably go to a garden centre with a cafe to choose a new bauble.

They also do Christmas party at school/nursery and Christmas stuff with their beavers and tumble tots group.

1 trip usually, either to see santa or pantomime sort of thing

Myeyeballsareonfire · 15/12/2022 08:28

This year we have seen Santa and will do a lights walk thingy. Also a panto. We used to do loads, but we found it completely overwhelming, and one year, my children had seen Santa probably 10 times by the time Christmas Eve came (I didn’t take them to these, but with his attendance now seemingly mandatory at play groups and activities it all gets a bit much!)

My eldest 2 are prime ‘Santa’ age, so I pared back so as not to confuse them with so many different faces of Santa.

In all honesty, while I do understand it’s nice of the groups and activities to bring Santa in, I have found it detracts from our visits (which are our little tradition) and means we have the house FULL of absolute shite before they even start on Christmas morning.
