And if so, what do you do?
Are there any public sector employees who feel they are fairly paid for the role they do? Do private sector employees feel differently, because they perhaps have more scope to vote with their feet?
I find the news around this so interesting at the moment. Yes, fair pay is to do with having enough money to live on, but there are other elements, like the importance of your role being acknowledged and the relative status of different professions that play a huge part in the narrative.
I feel fairly paid, because I work for myself and set my own fees. I have just increased my fees by ten percent, but I am aware that colleagues who do my (highly trained, not brilliantly paid) role in the public sector work just as hard and earn far less than I do. If I did my role in the public sector, I'd feel very poorly paid for my role, and frustrated that the only option for getting better pay is to give up my job security and pension.
Any thoughts?
