Hi need help please! I would like to get my friend a Christmas present (basically because she is a wonderful friend) but have very little money left until payday. Any ideas please for thoughtful but not too pricey gifts?
I'm not very imaginative so need some inspiration please!

Can we have some clues about your friend? One woman’s treasure is another woman’s tat and all that. And otherwise you’ll just get a thread that suggests:

Mug and hot chocolate
Fluff socks
Wrist warmers
Candle
Wine
Hand cream

Followed by arguments that it shouldn’t be any of those things.

spot on @stuntbubbles . Ditto homemade baked goods, which personally I would love from a friend.

Do you have access to a computer? Could you make a collage of photos of the two of you and then print it out at one of those kiosks in Boots or similar? My local library will print an A4 colour page for about 75p. You can get picture frames for a couple of pounds, so could make something really lovely and personal for under £5.

@stuntbubbles haha this is true!!!!
Ok well I suppose she is what someone may refer to as 'girly', so she does like all the typical candles, smellies etc etc but just wanted to think of something a bit different as I have zero imagination for presents.
Home baked goods is a possibility for a good present though!

Homemade smellies? A friend once made me a lovely jar of homemade bath salts in a nice jar – although unless you’re someone who already has essential oils and such knocking around that might be out of budget.

Otherwise I think homemade brownies would be a lovely idea, especially if you’ve got any spare boxes to present them in – lined with grease proof then wrapped and tied with ribbon.

Or quirky tree decorations? I’m sure you can get ones in the shape of lipstick, etc, for someone girlie.

I agree with a tree decoration if she doesn't change 'theme ' every year

Lidl did have an amaryllis kill for about £2.99 other places are about £5

A handwritten book of IOUs? Baby/pet sitting/movie night in/a skill you have that she doesn’t, etc?

What about making a memory/photo collage. Stick pictures and quotes on card or chip board. Cheap and sentimental

One of my daughter’s neighbours made me a beautiful Kilner jar of Christmas fudge last Christmas as a thank you for taking her child to school with my grandchildren after her husband disappeared with her car, money and window cleaner.

The fudge was from a recipe on the BBC good food site and was lovely, there’s lots of options and the jar was tied with a ribbon and a pretty gift card cut from an old Christmas card.

The whole thing probably cost less than a fiver but meant the world to me as she spent time and effort to make it.

I would be very happy with a mini bottle of Prosecco and for example a pack
of three Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
Or hand cream and some gloves (£1 in Primark) or the matching hats are £4.
A photograph gift would also be really appreciated.

Nagado · 13/12/2022 13:33

A framed photo of the two of us would mean so much to me. Way more than a generic gift.

Fab ideas everyone thank you!!
