Why can’t you buy sleepsuits with sewn in mittens for babies aged 6months+

Wanted to get some as it’s colder at night, I’ve noticed newborn up to 6 months they have sewn in mittens and then from 6-9months onwards they’re off? Why’s that? Seen it in next and marks and Spencer

Had this same problem last year for DS. JoJo Maman Bebe have some in older sizes and they are quite big for their size. DS is wearing a 9-12MO one now and he's 16months. Pricey, but they last

Presumably it's because babies of that age need to be moving their fingers about to practise and acquire motor skills?

And also because the purpose of integral mitts is kind of to stop newborns accidentally scratching their faces while they're flailing tiny arms about in their unpractised manner.

I took it to mean they don't need them then

I tend to flip one mitten just when breastfeeding so that DS doesn't scratch or pinch me. They are definitely useful beyond six months!

I thought it was a safety factor, if they roll in the night they need their hands to be able to move their face up and mouth away from the mattress so they don’t suffocate
