Now TV - hack?

EmmaAgain22 · 12/12/2022 23:14

Hi
last Monday, someone ordered a film package on my Now TV

I managed to get them to cancel it but they were saying it might be an accident. I wasn't near the TV when it happened.

today I was watching it, but someone ordered another package.

they've now said as it all seems to come from my TV, they won't refund again.

i have cancelled the account, but security wise, I am worried, what should I do? Anyone else had this?

thanks.

Did that the first time
didn't stop it happening again

looking at stories online, it seems they are dodgy.

I've never experienced this.

If it's definitely not being reactivated incidentally (by logging in, say, or clicking on 'movies' ) or nobody else in the house could be responsible I would probably remove my card details from the Account or request it be closed and open another with new details. I find with the likes of Netflix and Now TV that you can't even view their catalogue if you haven't agreed to a subscription and it is very easy to 'agree' to restart it, given they store your payment details.

They will know from what IP address the purchase was made ultimately and not likely to lie to you about it

Customer Service told me I can only cancel, which isn't very reassuring given the number of reviews on Trustpilot saying people did that, then got charged anyway. There's no way to remove the card from the account.

they can tell me what device the purchase came from. On the first occasion, I wasn't even home. I live alone.

There is a way to remove the card, just ring the card provider and get them to cancel the card.

Does anyone have access to your home?

I'm going to call them and block payments to Now TV.

what I am most concerned about is if someone has done this by hacking into my home wifi network. I just can't figure out how this happened.

No. At least, not that I know of! The second purchase, I was home at the time shown.

2FA would make this so much easier but it seems even Amazon don't have that.
