Back pain

Yesterday I woke up with immense shoulder/back pain on my left.

I don’t suffer from pain chronically and not sure what’s happened here. Even ibuprofen hasn’t lowered the pain, it hurts to twist or bend or lie down. My bed is very soft, could this be caused by the weight of my own body? It’s bizarre how I’m in pain over nothing

no idea but can you see a physio? also, look up the NHS back pain exercises that you can do at home - they can make a big difference.

Thank you. I’ll have a look.

I'm a side sleeper and google suggested I have pulled a muscle in my shoulder 😔

Do you mean you think you did at night in bed?

It's unlike to be for just lying in your bed if normally it is fine. It could be a back spasm or you could have turned ally and pulled a muscle m. It could be gallstones! Rather than an MSK problem.

Not a HCP just a back pain Sufferer. Try ibuprofen and paracetamol together or ibuprofen and cocodamol which had paracetamol in so don't take additional paracetamol. Also heat pack work well they stick i your skin or clothes or Hot water bottle. Call go and get referred a physio. Physio told me
Most MISCULAR PROBLEMS heal with in 4-6 weeks.

I found this video really helpful at reducing chronic back pain.

It is very good at releasing tension in muscles around the strain. Worth a try.

Don't know why that link wouldn;t work.

Here's a link to cut and paste:

Sorry - that won;t work either. Just google NHS chronic back pain pilates and it will come up on you tube.

camdenn · 12/12/2022 23:20

It definitely happened during sleep and seems to be a shoulder muscular issue, no bruising or swelling. Reaching or lifting something with my left arm is causing shooting pains haha what a fun start to the week. Thanks for the links x

I’ve watched the video but think those exercises might be too much for my shoulder right now, wincing at the thought of some of those movements 😂

I've suffered from hideous sacroiliac joint pain for years. Consequently my whole right side is tight. Have seen every medical person over those years and I've found GP's tend to medicate, (Tramadol helps me) Osteopaths are very knowledgeable but expensive, however one Osteopath I saw ran Pilates classes (lots of gentle stretching) which was amazing. Along with the NHS suggestion I'd also suggest Bob and Brad's videos on You Tube. They're simply explained and a bit of a giggle. Hope you feel better soon.
