Do you dress up or down for Christmas?

Just curiosity.

We always used to dress smartly if going to my maternal grandparents, but it was always comfy clothes if staying at home when I was growing up. No idea why!

This year I’m trying to decide between a new dress that I love (it’s not dressy as such) or just bunging on a jumper and some v stretchy leggings!

We dress up! Always did as a child and I’ve carried it on with my own children. We have lots of people round so it’s lovely.
For the evening party the younger children will often put on pyjamas and some of us change into loungewear but some stay in their party clothes.

Pyjamas all day!

We dress up - but not quite DJ and cocktail dresses. A bit smarter than smart casual.

Dress up (a nice dress probably) - we always have done. The children will be in joggers and hoodies so the tradition will probably die out when they grow up!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 12/12/2022 18:21

jeans and a Christmas jumper here.

Longlongtime · 12/12/2022 18:24

Always dressed up.

One year I spent Boxing Day in a onesie but that was a one-off.

Yarrawonga · 12/12/2022 18:24

Ether that or a bikini.

Dress up, but comfortably. Need an adjustable waistband.

reluctantbrit · 12/12/2022 18:39

Always dressing up

LBOCS2 · 12/12/2022 18:43

Dress up here. DC get new dresses/shirts, DH wears a shirt and jeans, I'll probably wear a decent top and some velvet wide legged trousers this year but in the past have tended towards a dress. It makes it feel more of an occasion (although I will admit that the effect is somewhat impacted when I stick my slippers on after dinner 😁)

OrangePomander · 12/12/2022 18:47

Dress up, but comfortably. No tight clothes or waistbands 😁

LuckyLuckyWoman · 12/12/2022 18:51

Up Christmas day, down boxing day. aka pj day :)

WhaleInAManger · 12/12/2022 18:52

Up if I have to and am staying with family.

But prefer down and at home.

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 12/12/2022 18:53

Normally just normal top maybe a bit nicer and leggings.
I cannot cook and all the xmas faff dressed up. I always manage to spill something or the dcs get something on me. But this year we're out for the day so have got a sparkly top which I'll wear with nice trousers or something for

MoanySloney · 12/12/2022 18:53

PJs all the way.

We're one of them never leave the house on Christmas day families though. Although I don't think my parents would be arsed if I rocked up in my PJs.

Pineapplebread · 12/12/2022 18:55

dressed down, I'm normally in basketball shorts and a Christmas jumper

NoDairyNoProblem · 12/12/2022 18:56

We are in the dress up but comfortably category.

Loose dress or wide leg velvet trousers and a silk blouse mainly with new slippers 🤣

doitwithlove · 12/12/2022 19:31

If I am hosting I will be in comfy clothing.

Dressy attire if going out.

In my work uniform this year as working over the festive period 🎉

CrownTheTurkey · 12/12/2022 19:48

Jeans and t-shirt here.
