Snacks when it's freezing

So I usually snack on berries, greek yoghurt, or vegetables and hummus. However it's 15C at home and I really don't want anything that has been in the fridge right now.

I have had too many cups of tea (and too many biscuits).

Any ideas?

I broke out the cup of soup today, too. 😆Yummy with crackers and a roll.

Bogglebrain · 12/12/2022 19:27

Bovril and crackers.

Bogglebrain · 12/12/2022 19:27

Bovril the drink, not on crackers.

Grunch · 12/12/2022 20:36

Cheese on toast or toasties
Soup
Stewed fruit or fruit crumble (I make this with an oat topping so not too unhealthy)
Porridge
Noodles
Baked oats
Scrambled eggs on toast
Beans and cheese on toast
Some stew

Grunch · 12/12/2022 20:38

I love making chilli con carne and just dipping into that when I'm hungry, usually with rice or on top of tortilla chips with cheese on top as nachos. Also lovely on the other winter staple, the baked potato. I find mini meals are much better this time of year than classic snack, though I do like some nuts and fruit as well

Sounds delicious, but that is a meal not a snack.

UrsulaPandress · 12/12/2022 21:02

But these suggestions are all stodgeville

Blowyourowntrumpet · 12/12/2022 21:06

Ready brek

PestorPeston · 12/12/2022 21:07

I tend to make soup (pea and veg today) and just have a mini bowl of that when I am cold and hungry. I've got some nice little tea cup size bowls and they seem to do the job.

mondaytosunday · 12/12/2022 21:08

Roast some sweet potato wedges. Have them with a bit of salt or if feeling indulgent aioli or mayo.

ODFOx · 12/12/2022 21:14

Marigold bouillon powder.
Tasty, easy, warm and comforting

Grunch · 12/12/2022 21:17

Soups a meal too, but not if you have a small potion, same with chilli. I just have a small bowl of it, or a couple of Tbsps on top of a handful or two of tortilla chips and a sprinkle of cheese. Hits the spot for me!

stuntbubbles · 12/12/2022 21:18

Toast.
Toasted tea cake.
Crumpet.
Drop scone.
More toast.

Fancy salted butter and runny honey on any of the above.

PestorPeston · 12/12/2022 21:26

@RampantIvy it would appear that @Grunch and I believe in snack size meals.

It is not our fault the rest of the world has not caught up with us Xmas Wink

maddiemookins16mum · 12/12/2022 21:38

Anything toasted.

LemonDrizzles · 12/12/2022 21:45

Swiss boillion and hot water. Amazing

VioletCharlotte · 12/12/2022 21:53

I would go for hot buttered toast or crumpets, but if you want something healthier, what about stewed fruit or baked apples? Or rice cakes with peanut butter, ryvita with marmite, banana bread?

stuntbubbles · 12/12/2022 21:59

LemonDrizzles · 12/12/2022 21:45

Swiss boillion and hot water. Amazing

Far too filling, I could barely manage a mouthful of such stodge. Just the hot water would be fine.

UrsulaPandress · 12/12/2022 22:10

Or just the hot?

birdsandthewasps · 12/12/2022 22:28

Lovely suggestions
But I see mumsnet underrating tribe have found the thread will quickly tell you to cook a chicken on a Sunday and have. Spoonful a day for a fortnight 🙄

birdsandthewasps · 12/12/2022 22:30

Underrating = under eating
have. Spoonful = have a spoonful

fat fingers from eating meals not snacks when it’s freezing

Egghead68 · 12/12/2022 22:37

Advent calendar chocolates

But my problem is that if I liked it my portion wouldn't be a snack size Grin

I'm not a mumsnet undereater honestly. I'm quite greedy, but find that I don't get hungry between meals, probably because I eat too much at meal times.

ShaunaTheSheep · 12/12/2022 22:44

Take your berries and Greek yoghurt and add them to a bowl of steaming hot porridge.

Slather your hummus on warm pitta or toast.

Make the veg into soup.
