Would it be okay to offer lifts to my daughters friends?

My daughter just rang me from the bus station, her bus hasn't turned up and now she and her friends won't be able to get to school on time. I've said if the bus there by 8 then to let me know and I'll go pick her up and take her myself.

Would it be okay to take her friends too? I'd have 3 spare seats in the car so seems silly not to offer! They are in year 7 so 11 year olds. I don't know any of their parents to ask.

I would.

Clutterbugsmum · 12/12/2022 07:53

Why wouldn't you. if you have spare seats then just take all of them.

Beamur · 12/12/2022 07:54

I would too. Get the girls to text their parents and tell them you're giving them a lift - that way they know and have the choice to decline.

Yes, and tell them all to text their parents so they know what is happening.

If parents are allowing children of that age to travel alone by bus, don’t they have phones of their own?

if not, can’t your daughter lend hers?

Allschoolsareartschools · 12/12/2022 07:55

Yes, they can let their parents know. That's very kind of you & I'd be grateful if it was my dd.

I would as I wouldn’t want to leave anyone behind. But I would still worry that one parent might be funny about their child getting into a car with a stranger or something-I think it’s from reading too many threads from precious parents on here).

I wouldn’t if it was snow on the roads. I don’t drive in snow myself and wouldn’t want my child in a car in the snow. If roads are clear, don’t see the problem.

But these DC are waiting for a bus, so the parents obviously are okay with them being transported in whatever weather conditions are currently happening.

I'd do it OP, if you have spare seats then it'd be really kind - I wouldn't be leaving them and just taking your daughter, if there's room and it's safe to have them in your car (seatbelts etc!).

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 12/12/2022 08:11

It’d be wrong not to give them a lift!

That's why I was apprehensive and checked here! I didn't want to just offer them before checking other parents opinions first.

Thankfully the bus arrived just before 8 so they're all well on their way now.

Unless you're planning to abduct them I'd go for it.
