Conversation with my son re: santa

I'm always shocked on here by the children who still believe in Santa at 10, it doesn't seem quite right somehow that children haven't figured it out by then. I always thought that maybe they were a bit immature for their age. I never believed in him, I always knew it was my grandfather in a santa suit. He was very tall and slim and most unsanta like.
I pretended to believe to keep the adults happy but at 4 I most certainly didn't.
Anyway I was chatting with my 40 year old son on the phone last night, he is a complete atheist and believes in nothing.
I said at what age did you stop believing in santa and he said older than it's socially acceptable maybe around 10/11.
I was totally gobsmacked, I didn't know he believed at all, certainly I never lied to him about it, I guess we just never discussed it.
Apparently his grandmother did such a good job of making it happen - footprints in flour etc that he really thought it was true.
I'm absolutely astounded.

Child believes in Santa? What’s wrong with that?

Hardly a cause for shock and astonishment.

MrsSkylerWhite - have you woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

Agree.

Many on here really want to quash all childlike fun and drag children into adulthood as early as they can. Not just this post, generally.

I don't think as parents we ever really know what our children are thinking! My Mum (80) is often surprised when I tell her what I did think about various things at the time - nothing bad, just stuff I saw differently or wasn't bothered by.

I’m very happy. It’s nearly Christmas!
