Stupid question but I’ve never done it. I made too much & put remainder in fridge. It is made with water - no milk. Can I just add boiling water & reheat? Has been in fridge since Wednesday.

Came on to say about the porridge drawer! I put leftovers onto a plate and flatten it out, put it in the fridge overnight, then heat it in a frying pan with a little butter the next day. I call it a porridge pancake Smile

In the old days oats had to be soaked overnight but I'm not sure what changed...

Not sure if you're Scottish, or from Scottish descent but, traditionally, porridge was made with oatmeal which would be soaked in water and a pinch of salt overnight.
'Modern' porridge, the type that is generally accepted nowadays, is made from rolled oats - which don't need to be soaked.

My grandfather would be turning in his grave if he knew what was passing for porridge these days!

I’m not Scottish! English but lived abroad half my life so only vaguely heard about matters of porridge before 😀

@Xiaoxiong I baked my bread in the Aga which isn't quite up to the 220 degrees recommended for baking and I think this is why my bread is a little tight. I'm going to try again tomorrow in the electric oven and see if it makes a difference.

It tastes lovely though, with the chewiness of sourdough without the sour taste. I'm just eating a slice or two for breakfast with some gorgeous rhubarb jam my friend gave me 😍
