Tiny flies help

So we have these small flies in our house, mainly the bathroom. At first thought fruit flies but house is spotless and can’t find any food lying about which when you have kids wouldn't be unlikely!
I then thought hmm are they maybe drain flies so proceeded to clean the drains in the bathroom. The day after I cleaned the drains we had the most we have ever had not sure if that would be normal? So each day, they are there I’m talking about max 15 (which may not sound a lot but you shouldn’t have any!) so possibly 2-4 each time I go to the toilet. I kill every one I see and have cleaned down the full bathroom but they still appear EVERY single day. I have found them near windows in other rooms but not as often as the bathroom. What else can I try or do? I’m at a loss. Thanks

Also to add they are so small I am finding it hard to see what their wings are like to determine if drain or fruit flies. They are slow flying, just kinda sit on the wall and if disturbed flutter. The kind you can catch by clapping your hands 🙈

Drain flies are like little moths, and are easy to squash (and leave a dusty mark on the wall)

fruit flies are small and hard to swat

Drain flies take aaaages to get rid of. You need to regularly (once a month) use OneShot acid- normal drain cleaner or boiling water won’t get rid of them. Keep the plugs in the sink and bath, and masking tape over the overflows to stop them escaping. If that doesn’t work, you might have a damp or leak problem

But we only properly got rid of them when we had the kitchen floor replaced and they found a cracked drain pipe. Once that was replaced, they stopped appearing in the house

To get rid of fruit flies, half fill a glass with vinegar, add a few squirts of washing up liquid and a slug of apple juice. Don’t get ANY on the rim or side of the glass…
after a few days, it will be a fruit fly grave yard. Replace the potion once a week

Thanks for the replies. @tenbob see they don’t look like little moths and when I squash them the just leave an orange ‘blood’ mark on the tissue. No dusty bit like a moth would. I think I will try and leave the solution up there tonight and also tape over the holes to see if I catch any. Why would I have fruit flies in the bathroom though or do they like all the damp yucky drains too 🤮
I hope it’s not drain flies after reading your issue! Glad you got it sorted though!
